Responsibilities

  • Interns assist with client engagements involving financial management reporting, municipal budget preparation and analysis, utility rate studies, capital project planning, and additional client services.

  • Responsibilities will vary and include gathering data, preparing financial reports, research, and assisting with analysis of information.

  • Project work may include assisting with compliance reports related to bond issues.

  • Interns are involved in client engagements that include the opportunity to attend meetings and gather information at the client site.

  • Some travel with experienced staff may be required, but most is same-day travel within the state.

  • Learn directly from experienced Staff, Seniors, Managers, Principals and Partners with specialized experience and technical knowledge across numerous industries and services.

  • Demonstrate your performance and ability to join Baker Tilly as a Consultant full-time.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; sufficient course work to sit for the CPA exam upon graduation preferred.

  • Outstanding academic performance required, with a preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.

  • Relevant internship, work experience and/or involvement with a professional organization preferred.

  • The ability to work effectively in a team environment with all levels of client personnel in various industries.

  • Excellent written/verbal communication and collaboration skills.

  • Strong attention to detail, a desire to learn and a high degree of analytical ability.

  • Be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship during the internship program and as a full-time employee.

Topics include member service, MSUFCU culture and philosophies, product knowledge, career development, computer systems, and compliance. This is a learning position which performs a variety of functions specific to the department that corresponds with the intern's field of study. This individual will be assigned a department specific project to complete during their time as an MSUFCU Intern. MSUFCU Interns will have the opportunity to meet with management and leadership to learn about the corporate culture while gaining hands-on business experience. Internship positions are available in Accounting, Information Technology, Business Analyst, Web Development, Sales and Service, Internal and Corporate Communications and Marketing. SCHEDULE Ideal availability would be: full day on Mondays and Wednesdays and Thursday mornings during the Spring 2020 semester Essential Duties and Responsibilities Under supervision of the Accounting Manager, accounting interns will assist the department in various tasks including, but not limited to: * Verifies and posts transactions to journals, ledgers and other records/systems * Prepares reports, statements, and invoices for processing * Balances and reconciles general ledger accounts * Assists with internal and external audits, and NCUA Examinations * Assist in each accounting function including accounts payable, accounts receivable, etc. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required * High school diploma required * Actively pursuing Associate or Bachelor degree in related field of study * Demonstrates empathy and a commitment to providing superior member service * Ability to assess member needs and offer alternatives * Displays high level of integrity * Seeks continuous learning and improvement through feedback and other means * Ability to be a self-starter and work successfully in a team-oriented environment * Open to change and to considerable variety in the workplace * High level of both written and oral communication skills * Ability to develop constructive and cooperative relationships with others, and maintain them over time * Ability to analyze problems and to arrive at a proper solution * Demonstrates a commitment to the community and giving back Physical Demands * Required to sit, stand, walk; talk and hear; and ability to touch and handle office equipment * Ability to lift up to 50 pounds * Normal office environment where there is minimal discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise and other factors * Exposure to potentially hazardous condition, MSU Federal Credit Union East Lansing MI
