Responsible for assisting full time staff with various initiatives in IT Asset Management.

  • The program is designed to introduce students to the careers available at Athene.

  • Provide interns with professional and social networking opportunities throughout the summer

  • Day-to-day-operational activities associated with delivery of IT hardware and software.

  • Receive incoming IT deliveries.

  • Ensure IT Assets are secured.

  • Coordinates with internal IT groups to confirm receipt and delivery of physical assets.

  • Completes periodic auditing, validating and reconciling of the stockroom inventory.

  • Liaise with Facilities, Mailroom and Dock personnel to manage on-site physical assets.

  • Complete accurate and timely updates in Asset Management tracking system.

  • Assist with and participate in move planning.

  • Primary contact for IT shipping functions (i.e. packaging equipment, recording and tracking shipments, etc.).

  • Complete timely updates of hardware moves, changes and assignments.

  • Identify, escalate and make recommendations for improvement.

  • End to end checking in and out equipment for the Desktop team.

  • Manage equipment in legal hold and break/fix status.

  • Students are expected to work independently and will be responsible for ownership of their portion of a project once they have been properly trained.

  • Students are encouraged to add value and provide recommendations for improvements to process and systems by applying their experience and knowledge.

  • Maintain a log evaluating each project assigned and prepare an evaluation of the experience in order to improve the quality of future projects.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Entering Junior or senior year in the fall of 2019

  • Proactive with demonstrated leadership abilities

  • Well-rounded and motivated

  • Excellent communication and organization skills Significant experience using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

  • Previous internship experience a plus

Although previous service industry experience is desired, we welcome the opportunity to teach the right candidates who possess the traits we need. In this role, you will gain exposure to both claims and commercial underwriting. You will be focusing on claims with the opportunity of underwriting experience as needed and dependent on storm volume. Our internship program holds an 80/10/10 approach, meaning that 80% of your work time will involve performing tasks or working on projects within your hired work area. Another 10% of the time, you will be exposed to learning in other areas within your assigned division to get more corporate experience. Then, the final 10% will be spent in shared experiences across the organization, where you will get to really learn about our culture and work environment. This opportunity is a great way for you to get your foot in the door and spend your summer gaining entry levelclaims/underwriting experience, as well as general corporate real world exposure. What It Takes to Join Our Team: * Be a current college student. * A quick learner who's looking to learn new concepts and ideas, and able to learn basic understanding of property insurance policies. * PC literate and able to effectively use our systems. Familiarity with Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel is preferred. * Effective communicator, have excellent customer service skills, and be team focused. * Must be detail oriented and willing to ask questions. * Must be comfortable talking the telephone, as approximately 50% of your time will be spent on the phone. * Be available to work at least 20 hours per week during the summer of 2019 from our office in West Des Moines, IA.
