Description

  • An Entry Level SUE Technician is responsible for assisting in the operation of a SUE field crew.

  • The major objectives of this position are the quality of work, safety, meeting schedules within budgets, and responsive service to clients.

  • Pick up and carry equipment, tools or supplies weighing up to 50 lbs. for short distances and assist others to do the same. This includes the loading and unloading of such items into and out of vehicles, storage areas, etc.

  • Must operate equipment, maintain safe work environment, protect and maintain the equipment and vehicles, accurately and efficiently collect field data and locate features.

  • McKim & Creed provides staff with all OSHA and MOT training, confined space training, equipment usage and safety, and/or certifications necessary to safely perform tasks.

Required Experience

  • Entry level experience in SUE field operations and entry level knowledge with Utility Locating Equipment, Vacuum Excavation Equipment, GPR and/or Electromagneting experience PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED.

  • Assist in identifying marked utilities, structures and various control points on plans and maps and in the field. Knowledge of utility installation - water, sewer, gas, electric, phone, cable tv PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED.

  • Perform operator level maintenance on equipment as required.

  • Individual will have good technical skills; behavioral traits of process oriented, steady, helpful, honest, trustworthy, adaptable, analytical, problem solver, likes work alone when required, methodical, consistent, detail oriented, precise, hates mistakes, likes structure.

  • Ability to work outdoors under the full range of weather conditions typically experienced throughout all seasons of the year

  • Ability to walk for extended periods over irregular terrain while carrying and/or using any of the full range of equipment

  • Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle record.

  • Some overnight travel may be required.
