  • This person is responsible for the management of operations and staff for Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) projects in Charlotte, NC.

  • Major responsibilities include proposals, meeting schedules, profitability of work, quality of the work, directing project effort, monitoring and processing financial information, collecting fees, and client relationship.

  • Developing and maintaining the client relationship, assigning and directing the project team, project communications within the company and to outside stakeholders, controlling project performance, developing new work, and collecting a/r's.

  • Training of SUE technicians in the theory of utility designating and practical application of designating methods.

  • Training and supervision of SUE crews in vacuum excavation (test holes).

  • Coordinating with state and local municipalities to obtain proper certifications and permits for SUE work in their jurisdictions.

  • Providing oversight and monitor SUE activities to ensure assignments meet performance goals.

  • Recruit, hire, manage, mentor and retain staff necessary to maintain and/or improve the SUE's unit's ability to produce a quality work product.

Required Experience

  • 5-10 years of experience supervising multiple SUE crews.

  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills, good negotiation skills, knowledgeable in AutoCad and MicroStation, and good engineering technical skills.

  • Must be results oriented, decisive, take charge, persuasive, adapts to change, sense of urgency, self-directed, self-reliant and understand big picture.

  • Must be willing to travel as necessary.

  • Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle record.

The hire will be responsible for spearheading and leading architecture designs of big data-based analytics solutions, expanding and optimizing data, and data pipeline architectures for our clients, as well as optimizing data flow and collection for cross functional teams. The ideal candidate is an experienced data pipeline builder and data wrangler who enjoys optimizing data systems and building them from the ground up. The data engineering architect will also be responsible for chartering strategic technology directions by influencing senior IT stakeholders and must be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems and products. </p><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><ul> <li>You have a BS, MS in Computer Engineering, or closely related field with 10+ years of work or research experience in software development</li> <li>Experience with big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc.)</li> <li>Experience with relational SQL (Oracle) and NoSQL databases (Postgres, Cassandra, MongoDB etc)</li> <li>Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools: SnapLogic, StreamSets, Azkaban, Luigi, Airflow, etc.</li> <li>Experience with AWS cloud services: EC2, EMR, RDS, Redshift</li> <li>Experience with stream-processing systems: Storm, Spark-Streaming, etc.</li> <li>Experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, Java, C++, Scala, etc.</li> <li>Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management</li> <li>Experience in working on the cloud (iPaas / Saas)</li> </ul><p><strong>Responsibilities include:</strong></p><ul> <li>Design end-to-end big data platforms ensuring the optimum use of various technology stacks for ingestion, staging, transformation, processing and visualization</li> <li>Define and lead strategy discussions</li> <li>Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture for our clients</li> <li>Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements.</li> <li>Identify, design, and implement process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.</li> <li>Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and ‘big data’ technologies.
