Position Summary
Chord Energy is seeking a motivated and skilled Non-Operated Engineering Analyst to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be proficient in using Python to automate workflows, capable of running a monthly accrual process, and have a strong background in data analysis and engineering principles. This role involves collaborating with engineers, geologists, landmen, corporate planning, and accounting to streamline operations, enhance data accuracy, and support decision-making processes. This position is located in downtown Houston, TX. Hybrid work schedule is an option for remote work on Mondays and Fridays. Level and salary commensurate with background and experience.
Essential Job Functions
Develop, implement, and maintain Python scripts to automate various engineering and non-op workflows, improving efficiency and reducing manual efforts
Execute and manage the monthly non-op accrual process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting
Collect, analyze, and interpret data from non-operated assets to support engineering and operational decisions
Generate reports and visualizations to communicate findings effectively
Work closely with engineering, finance, and operations teams to understand requirements, gather data, and provide insights
Foster strong working relationships across departments
Identify opportunities for process improvements and optimization
Propose and implement solutions to enhance workflow efficiency and data accuracy
Provide technical support and troubleshooting for automated processes and systems
Ensure the reliability and integrity of automated workflows
Maintain comprehensive documentation for all automated processes, data analyses, and reporting procedures
Ensure knowledge transfer and continuity
Maintain and manage non-operated budget database and track targets versus actuals for key components
Responsible for trend analysis of information related to well performance drivers
Prepare quarterly presentation material for senior leadership
Prepare & maintain Aries databases
Support reporting of the company's reserves annually to the SEC, EIA, and semi-annually to the banks
Coordinate the gathering and analysis of data used in reserves determinations (LOE, capital, ownership, pricing, etc.)
Prepare inputs and ensure consistency of coding in Aries
Run reserves economics and compile results summaries as needed (balance sheet, waterfalls of reserves changes by type, various metrics, etc.)
Assist with reserves runs for other purposes as needed (impairment tests, acquisitions, divestitures, etc.)
Perform and report basin activity surveillance for competitor intelligence and benchmarking

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree
Five (5) years experience in relevant roles
Experienced with common reservoir engineering workflows
Advanced Excel, Access, and PowerPoint skills
Advanced knowledge of petroleum economics and economic applications
Advanced data management and database skills
Intermediate Spotfire skills
Proficiency in Python for automation and data analysis.
Ability to perform complex analysis and formulate recommendations
Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
Self-starter and process oriented
Ability to work in a fast-paced and fluid environment; flexible with the demands of a growing company
Ability to meet deadlines
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, strength to lift and carry files weighing up to 10 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone

Preferred Qualifications
Eight (8) years experience of E&P
Currently in a Reservoir Engineering / Technician role
Decline curve analysis experience
Aries, SQL, and Snowflake experience
Working knowledge of general petroleum engineering principles
Working knowledge of lower 48 unconventional basins
Working knowledge of oil and gas well life cycle
Experience with machine learning workflows
Experience with financial accrual processes and reporting.
Advanced Spotfire skills
Advanced Python skills
