Position Title: Spanish Teacher, Grade 7 (Substitute until the end of the school year)

School of Vacancy: Newtown Middle School

Starting Date: Immediately

Salary Range: Per teacher contract

Responsibilities: The teacher will provide world language instruction to 7th grade students as a member of a five person team and will perform other classroom teaching duty assignments consistent with the requirements of the position.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:

• Current World Language (Spanish) Certification;

• Interest in working in a high-performing district in a middle school environment and commitment to promoting a positive culture;

• Ability to work with others in attaining team objectives and accomplishing interdisciplinary objectives for students, including technology integration;

• Evidence of thorough understanding of unique needs of adolescents and how their characteristics impact curriculum and instruction;

• Evidence of expertise in working with children in a heterogeneous classroom setting and ability to differentiate instruction;

• Familiarity of and/or experience in teaching spanish and

understanding of best practices in world language;

• Familiarity and/or experience in utilizing small group instruction to support a wide-range of learners;

• Effective classroom management skills that promote a positive learning environment;

• Willingness to participate in collaborative lesson planning;

• Strong written and verbal communication skills; and
