The Napa County Office of Education (NCOE) is a public agency that provides academic services and enrichment opportunities for students, teachers and the community, as well as critical business services for school districts. NCOE partners with the five public school districts in Napa County on a variety of programs and issues.

As of now, the application process for the County-wide substitute pool is closed, and we are not currently accepting any new applications. However, please be informed that we plan to reopen the application process in mid-summer for the 2024/25 school year.

We appreciate your interest in joining our substitute pool, and we encourage you to consider applying when the application process reopens later this summer. The Napa County Office of Education maintains the substitute call list for all six (6) districts in Napa County: Calistoga Joint Unified School District, Howell Mountain Elementary School District, Napa County Office of Education, Napa Valley Unified School District, Pope Valley Union School District, and St. Helena Unified School District. Please note that each district is considered a separate employer and will pay the substitute individually. We permit our substitutes to work as little or as much as they want with no limit to the number of hours per month. There is a constant need for Substitute Teachers and recruitment is ongoing. By completing this application on EdJoin you are beginning the process of becoming a substitute teacher for the schools in Napa County. Submission of this application IS NOT a guarantee of hire. You will be contacted regarding next steps in the process. Please be sure your application indicates where you are with the following: BA Degree or higher (Required) Passing CBEST or its alternatives to meet Basic Skills Requirement (see leaflet from CTC) Holding a current or expired credential/permit in CA or another State (Not required)
