Substitute Teacher

SCSD2 is looking to hire prior SCSD2 Teachers to join our sub pool! As a substitute teacher you have control of your schedule - you can pick the days, times (half or full day), school and subject area of the job you choose to work!

Please note that teachers who separate from SCSD2 cannot begin working as a substitute teacher until after 26 weeks from their last work day with SCSD2.

Substitute Pay Rates:

  • Wyoming Substitute License $124.00/day

  • Wyoming Teaching License $127.00/day

  • Retired Teacher (Non-SCSD2) $130.00/day

  • Retired Teacher (SCSD2) $133.00/day

  • Long-term Substitute Assignment Additional $6.00/day

  • Wyoming PTSB Endorsement in Subject Area of Long Term Substitute Assignment Additional $20.00/day

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Active Professional Teaching Standards Board (PTSB) teaching or substitute teaching certificate.

  • Experience working as an SCSD2 Teacher.

REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent

JOB GOAL: To instruct students and facilitate their learning in the absence of the regular teacher. Substitute teachers shall create a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; establish effective rapport with students; motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for education in accordance with each student's ability and establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reviews substitute plans and schedules to be followed during the teaching day as provided by the absent teacher, principal or assigned mentor. Collaborates with other professionals to implement instruction and related activities.

  • Maintains established routines and procedures of the school and the classroom, as assigned. Ensures the classroom and/or instructional environment is healthy, safe, and conducive to learning.

  • Provides effective classroom/student management, clear instruction, and implement lesson plans, assignments, assessments, and other instructional materials as outlined in the substitute teacher's plan. May be required to develop lesson plans and assess student achievement in long term assignments.

  • Assumes responsibility for overseeing student behavior in the assigned classroom, monitors student behavior in non-instructional areas as assigned, and intervenes to control and modify disruptive behavior as appropriate.

  • Supports a school culture of high academic and behavioral standards that create a supportive and engaging learning environment.

  • Interacts effectively with students, co-workers, and parents.

  • Carries out non-instructional duties as assigned and/or as needed.

  • Performs and promotes all activities in compliance with equal employment and non-discrimination policies; follows federal laws, state laws, school board policies, and professional standards.
