SPECIAL EDUCATION SITES
CCCOE provides a full range of services designed to meet the needs of severely handicapped and multi-handicapped students from age 5 to 22.
In addition, CCCOE provides intensive, early intervention programs for young children (Pre K-2), as well as intensive classes for students ages 3-22.
Individuals working in schools for Severely Handicapped students must have the ability to lift students ranging in weight from infants to young adults; and demonstrate a willingness to assist Severely Multiply Handicapped students with self-help skills as necessary. Schedule: Substitute positions have flexible workdays, approximately 6 to 6.5 hours per day.
Salary: Starting salary is $230 per day, with the opportunity to advance to $240 per day after completing 21 work assignments. The daily rate for retired teacher is $260 per day.
COMMUNITY SCHOOLS
Golden Gate Community School is an alternative education program serving the academic needs of students during their enrollment. Students are referred by one or more of the following: court wards or dependents when referred by their case managers, district students whose needs have been reviewed by SARB, students expelled from their home district, and students referred by the Probation Department.
All courses taken and credits earned are transferable to the student's home district. The program seeks to transition each student back to an appropriate educational, training and/or employment setting upon completion of their contractual requirements. There are sites in Richmond, Brentwood, and Pittsburg.

JUVENILE COURT SCHOOLS
The CCCOE operates two court school programs. Students take grade-appropriate academic courses and work on their basic skills to complete appropriate courses and/or to earn high school credits. Staff will assist students in reaching their academic and career goals by implementing teaching strategies and techniques which will enable students to succeed personally, socially, and educationally.

ADULT EDUCATION
The CCCOE offers educational programs to incarcerated adults through the Contra Costa Adult School. The educational program is a partnership between the CCCOE and the Contra Costa Sheriff's Department.
Education programs are conducted within a variety of instructional settings, and are designed to meet the needs of an itinerant population, with open-entry and exit, through large group, small group, and independent study. All programs serve resident adult inmates awaiting a hearing or serving a sentence.
Schedule: Morning classes 8:00-11:00 am / Afternoon classes 12:30-2:30 pm
Salary: $25.90/per hour
