Substitute Teacher (Contra Costa County) 2023-2024 School Year

There is a continuous need for qualified individuals to work as Substitute Teachers in the educational programs offered by the Contra Costa County Office of Education (CCCOE).
The CCCOE has many programs we offer to a diverse group of students. Please take a close look at the job description below for a detailed overview of the many programs offered. Upon orientation you will be given the opportunity to select which sites you are most interested in substituting for. IT IS NOT MANDATORY TO BE A SUBSTITUTE FOR ALL PROGRAMS.

In order to be a Certificated Substitute Teacher , you must posses or be eligible to qualify for a valid California Credential or an Emergency Permit.Qualifications for the above documents include:* BA degree* CBEST (California Basic Educational Skills Test ). Individuals may also meet the requirement with passage of college courses in Reading, Writing and Math. Courses must have been taken at a regionally-accredited college or university for credit, passed with a grade of B or better, be degree applicable, and be at least 3 semester units or 4 quarter units.

All applications must be submitted online via Edjoin, please include a copy of your credential, letter of introduction and 2 references. Applicants are reviewed by Human Resources and eligible candidates will be invited to attend a substitute orientation. Applicants will also be required to be Livescan fingerprinted for the CCCOE (the CCCOE will cover the Livescan cost) and provide a current TB test in order to complete the hiring process and entering a classroom.
