Nature of Work
Substitute position instructing Pre-School classes for children ages 3 to 5 years old.
Hours will vary depending when needed: Monday - Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 12:00, and possible hours to fill in with occasional child care to include early evenings or Saturday mornings.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for the general supervision and management of a class of 8 20 children, aged 3 - 5 years old depending on classroom assigned.
Provides a creative, developmentally age appropriate, and safe learning environment.
Prepares and implements developmentally age appropriate curriculum that enhances children's social and emotional growth, fosters imagination, stimulates process- orientated art/science concepts, and increases cognitive skills.
Create and distribute a monthly newsletter, as well as weekly lesson plans.
Assists in maintaining children's files and complies with State Licensing child care regulations.
Maintains current records to evaluate children's progression; utilizing assessment tool that Preschool Director advises.
Maintains cleanliness of facility and organization of materials and equipment in accordance with City of Northglenn Recreation Department policies and Colorado Human Services guidelines.
Available to substitute for other Preschool Instructors when necessary.
Communicates with parents in a warm and respectful manner.
Immediately reports all incidents, injuries, and/or unsafe conditions to Preschool Director/Recreation Coordinator.
Communicates effectively with Preschool Director/Recreation Coordinator in order to provide quality programs.
May be required to set-up and break-down materials used in classrooms.
Attends monthly staff meetings.
Attends trainings to improve teaching methods and remain in compliance with licensing regulations.
Complies with purchasing policies and procedures and adheres to monthly budget.
Attendance at scheduled staff/City Meetings and some City of Northglenn Events.
Proactively discerns and initiates problem solving tasks.
Education and Experience
Requires 12 semester hours in early childhood education with CPR, First Aid and Meds.administration certifications, 9 months experience with preschool aged children and an ability to lift 40 lbs. Must be 21 years of age. Full Salary Range: $12.84 - $17.13
High school diploma (or equivalent), Qualified candidates must also be at least 18 years of age and possess current first aid and CPR certifications, or be able to obtain if hired. Ability to lift 40 lbs. Must also have completed or be willing to complete Universal Precautions and Medication Administration training. Full Salary Range $11.85 - $15.82
Successful applicant must pass a background, fingerprint, drug screen and physical.
