Substitute Paraeducator V - Hearing Impaired Interpreter

Requirements / Qualifications

• IMPORTANT MESSAGE* EDUCATION: High School diploma and/or GED (required), 48 College Units and/or an Associate's Degree or the successful completion of the ParaPro test LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a valid certification issued by the National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment, the Educational Sign Skills Evaluation-Interpreter, or the National Association of the Deaf/American Consortium of Certified Interpreters assessment as required under California State Law.

Requirements for Applying, All of the documents specified below must be attached to your application in order to be invited to our new hire orientation and be considered for employment. • Copy of transcripts (showing a minimum of 48 college units) official transcripts will be required upon employment as a substitute paraeducator

• An Interpreter needs evidence of: By July 1, 2009, and thereafter, an educational interpreter shall be certified by the National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), or equivalent; in lieu of RID certification or equivalent, an educational interpreter must have achieved a score of 4.0 or above on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA), the Educational Sign Skills Evaluation-Interpreter/Receptive (ESSE-I/R), or the National Association of the Deaf/American Consortium of Certified Interpreters (NAD/ACCI) assessment. If providing Cued Language transliteration, a transliterator shall possess Testing/Evaluation and Certification Unit (TEC Unit) certification or have achieved a score of 4.0 or above on the EIPA

• Cued Speech.

• Certification (Interpreter Certificate)
