QUALIFICATIONS:
Current Alabama License as an RN and up to date BLS certification.
Clinical nursing experience with the pediatric population to include familiarization with common medication dosages, urinary catheterization experience, high level of understanding pertaining to Type I and II Diabetes, ADD, seizures, genetic disorders and other common diagnoses.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Understanding of the nursing role in a school setting, essential school system functions, departments, and personnel.
Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama Statutes and State Board of Education regulations
Comprehension of pertinent laws regarding school nursing.
Positive attitude and the ability to adapt.
Adequate strength, dexterity and agility to perform all required tasks.
REPORTS TO: Principal and system leadership
JOB GOAL:
To provide high quality nursing services to the students and staff at the assigned location as needed.
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
TERMS:
Temporary Part Time appointment compensated in accordance with the Board approved salary schedule
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Practice within the subscribed parameters of the Alabama Nurse Practice Act, Alabama State Department of Education, pertinent laws, and other standards as they apply to the school nurse clinical setting.
Implement Individualized Health Care Plans.
Perform assessment, appropriate treatment, and make recommendations for illness and injuries that occur.
Administer medications in compliance with the Pike Road School District's policy and procedure in accordance with pertinent state and/or federal laws.
Perform accurate and timely inventory of medications and equipment as required by district policy and/or state/federal law.
Report potential outbreaks of communicable disease to Lead Nurse and building principal.
Perform and assist with screenings as needed.
Report potential or confirmed cases of abuse, medical neglect, or code of conduct violations to building principal, Lead Nurse, and appropriate authorities as required by district policy and/or state/federal laws.
Adhere to OSHA guidelines.
Perform other duties as required by supervisor and system leadership.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently; and/or up to 10 pounds of force as needed to move objects.
