Caon City School District Fremont RE-1 is accepting applications for SUBSTITUTE HEALTH TECHNICIAN. This position is On-Call / As-Needed during the school year. Hours and locations will vary depending on District needs. Hourly pay is $11.10.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma

  • Effective Communication and Social Skills

  • Current CPR and First Aid Certificate required

  • Positive individual with neat, clean appearance; pleasant personality

  • Ability to work cooperatively in a school atmosphere with staff members, students and the public

  • Ability to read, write and speak the English language and comply with directions and instructions to complete tasks and establish priorities

  • Proven work record demonstrating reliability, flexibility, and initiative

  • Applicant must work well with children and with adults

  • Must be comfortable with medical emergencies

  • $50.00 fee for fingerprinting and background check is required

Duties:

  • Demonstrate reliability in all work situations

  • Present a professional appearance personally and in the work area

  • Promote and maintain positive working relationships with peers, students, and the public

  • Be knowledgeable about the job

  • Possess adequate office skills-minimal typing, filing, management of student health files

  • Able to administer basic first aid

  • Keep confidential all school health related matters

  • Exercise reasonable judgment in calling the District Nurse(s) for situations exceeding the employee's training level

  • Model the District's Mission and Belief Statements

  • Under the direction of the District Nurse(s) and the site administrator(s), implement schedules and routines, effectively communicate with public and other building personnel, and support school-wide building management and culture plans.

  • Meet the safety, physical and emotional needs of students

  • Maintain health history information for students

  • Maintain frequent communication with parents of students who are ill, injured or on a Health Action Plan

  • When deemed necessary by the District Nurse(s), transport ill or injured students

  • Record daily absences and health issues/office visits

  • Possess skills to be able to utilize basic technology as directed by the District to communicate and function effectively as a 21st century employee.

  • Assist with other job-related duties as assigned.

Learn more about this agency Responsibilities * Serves as a lead wildland firefighter operating a wildland fire engine, performing wildland firefighting work and leading crews performing such work, i.e., wildland fire suppression and control activities including preparedness, prevention, monitoring, hazardous fuels reduction, and prescribed burning. * Drives and operates a wildland fire engine, positioning the engine for proper use and operation. * Ensures the engine is kept in a full state of readiness for emergency fire dispatch. * Has specialized duties such as water handling specialist, fully qualified chainsaw operator, and/or responsible for maintenance of specialized equipment used to respond to wildland urban interface/intermix situations. * Instructs crew members in specific tasks and techniques, conducts on-the-job training, distributes and controls work assignments and ensures timely accomplishment of assigned tasks, maintains work records, reports on work accomplishments, ensures the work is carried out safely, and reports on performance problems and issues. * Supervises crew in absence of supervisor. This is a primary firefighter position under the special retirement provisions of 5 U.S.C. 8336(c) (CSRS) and 5 U.S.C. 8412(d) (FERS). The position is subject to maximum entry age (MEA) requirements. The MEA for this position shall not exceed age 37; unless you have sufficient prior Federal civilian firefighter experience or you are a preference eligible veteran. Examples of work experience include, but are not limited to: Serving as a senior crewmember of an engine or hand crew; performing all aspects of wildland and fire operations including preparation, ignition, monitoring, holding, and mop-up; and performing fire engine operations including starting pump engine, priming pump, adjusting engine speed and pump valves, laying hose, and using appropriate nozzles and nozzle adjustments OR 18 semester hours of graduate education which is DIRECTLY related to work of the position OR equivalent combination of specialized experience and education. Substitution of Education for Experience: For GS-06: 18 semester hours of graduate education which is DIRECTLY related to work of the position OR an equivalent combination of specialized experience and education. * You must meet all qualification requirements by the cut off date you submitted your application for. This position has been identified as one of the key fire management positions under the Interagency Fire Program Management (IFPM) Standard. This position has been categorized as a Senior Firefighter (SFF), and requires selectee to meet the minimum qualification standards for IFPM prior to being placed into the position. Selective Placement Factor(s): This position requires a special qualification that has been determined to be essential to perform the duties and will be used as a screen out element. Work Environment: Work is primarily performed in forest and range environments in steep terrain where surfaces may be extremely uneven, rocky, covered with vegetation, and in smoky conditions.
