Substitute Custodian - Night Shift (Please Attach Req. FOR Application TO BE Considered Complete)

JOB DESCRIPTION Under general supervision, to do general custodial work in servicing and cleaning assigned school buildings and adjacent areas; and to do related work as required. POSITION IN THE ORGANIZATION Reports to: School Site Principal and/or Designee SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES- Opens gates and/or locks doors of facility- Assigned to specific cleaning work- Inspects buildings and grounds for vandalism- Checks, puts out and takes in playground equipment- Inspects heating, electrical and water equipment and facilities to determine condition- Reports needs for repairs of equipment and buildings- Cleans stopped drains and toilets- Moves furniture and equipment and adjusts desks and tables- Replaces light bulbs and does other minor repairs and errands- Sets up tables and benches in cafeteria eating area- Sweeps, mops, waxes and scrubs floors- Dusts, waxes, washes and polishes all surfaces, including top of cupboards- Cleans restrooms, drinking fountains and sweeps sidewalks and play areas- Replenishes supplies- Cleans up after children who are ill- Turns out lights and locks doors and windows- Confines pets- Clean light fixtures- Spot and deep cleaning of carpets- Deep vacumming of carpet- Detailed cleaning of classroom, restrooms and office fixtures- Clean HVAC filters, vent and return grills- Empties and cleans waste receptacles- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with others- Performs other related duties as required- Other duties as assigned MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE Any combination equivalent to completion of the tenth grade and supplemented by one year of experience in janitorial work. Must possess a California Drivers License and must submit to a Motor Vehicle check as required. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES -Knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in custodial work.- Ability to maintain schedules for cleaning of all facilities assigned.- Ability to use common electrical cleaning equipment.- Must be physically fit to lead and participate in a variety of vigorous activities.- Ability to see and hear conditions relating to the safety of self and others.- Ability to speak in an indoor and outdoor setting well enough to project voice throughout classroom, playground and multipurpose room.- Strength to lift/carry equipment/supplies/children up to 50 pounds.- Must have adequate body movement or mobility to stoop, bend, reach and climb.- Ability to communicate effectively with administration, staff, students, and parents.- Establish and maintain good working relations with others.- Ability to work in a teaming situation.
