About the Employer
We are a unified school district serving more than 16,150 students in grades K -12. We have thirteen elementary schools, four middle schools, two comprehensive high schools, three specialized high schools, two alternative high schools and one K-8 school.
We also offer a home schooling program, adult education courses and other unique programs to fit the needs of all students. Our school district employs approximately 1,100 certificated and nearly 900 classified employees. Antioch Unified School District is centrally located in the East Bay and provides ready access to scenic mountains, waterfronts, wine country, historical sites and the Pacific Ocean.
Antioch is known as the "Gateway to the Delta" and is one of California's oldest cities, with a diverse community of approximately 100,000. The Antioch Unified School District is a Merit System District. As such, final selection of our classified staff members will be made from candidates who have been placed on an eligibility list. Eligibility is determined via an evaluation and competitive screening/scoring of a candidate's training and experience as demonstrated on the application and responses provided in the supplemental questions.

As Needed - Until Filled CSEA Hourly Salary: 122 - Step A = $24.81 ON-CALL SUBSTITUTE RECRUITMENT: These positions are for those not seeking permanent or regular work. It is for individuals that are interested in working on-call and as-needed to service the district needs during employee absences or position vacancies.
IDEAL CANDIDATE: Individuals with sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities to perform routine custodial duties at a designated school site during an assigned shift (days/swing). Ability to maintain buildings and adjacent ground areas in a clean, orderly, safe, and secure condition. APPLICATIONS ARE REVIEWED WEEKLY.

REQUIRED STRENGTH TESTING: All offers of employment are conditional upon the applicant's satisfactory results of the Post Offer, Pre-Placement Physical Evaluation Program (PEP). This physical strength test helps us select employee candidates that have demonstrated a minimum level of strength to perform the essential functions of the job.
The selection process will consist of a competitive qualifying application screening and interview. This recruitment is for substitute / on call / at will employment in the classification family of Custodian. This recruitment is NOT for the use of an eligibility list to employ permanent employees.
