Job Title: Substation Designer

Job Description

This position is responsible for creating designs in 2D or 3D for Transmission and Distribution electrical Substations and supporting design criteria and standardization efforts. The Designer will produce engineering drawings using AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, and Autodesk Map 3D [P4A]. The role includes producing specifications and material requirements for substation projects with an emphasis on safety, quality, scheduling, and costs. Responsibilities include creating/modifying scaled 2D drawings or 3D models for the physical aspects of electrical substations, including Foundation Layouts, Grounding Layouts, Conduit Layouts, Switchgear Assembly Layouts, Control Buildings, Electrical Bus Design, and more. The Designer will specify and order material for electrical substation design packages, including stock, non-stock, and shop fabricated material. The Designer will transmit drawing packages and supporting specifications using the Transmission Engineering job transmittal program. The Designer will coordinate and communicate with engineers and other departments associated with electrical Substation Design. Additionally, the Designer will interact with manufacturers, vendors, and committee members to resolve equipment and material issues. Support will be provided to the Substation Construction, Field Services, Project Management, and Substation Maintenance departments. Site visits for projects, including pre-construction meetings, during construction, and post-construction, are required. Some overnight travel will be necessary.

Work Site

This is a hybrid position requiring some days on-site in Forest Park, Georgia and some days remote.

Work Environment

Schedule: 4 10's, 9 9's, or 5 8's. Work from the office 3 days a week, with Tuesday and Wednesday mandatory (one flex day is available). The team consists of 22 employees.
