Substance Abuse Counselor

  • Full-Time (40hrs), Rotating

  • Ascension St. Elizabeth's Hospital

  • Appleton, WI

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, some evening hours. No weekends.

What You Will Do:

Provides substance abuse counseling services.

  • Provide assigned patient counseling services and case management.

  • Systematically and continually assesses the patient's coping mechanisms and progress.

  • Utilize appropriate teaching methods and/or referral sources.

  • Coordinate patient's discharge planning needs and readiness for discharge with other healthcare members.

What You Will Need:

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • One or more of the following:

  • Licensed Clinical Counselor credentialed from the Wisconsin Board of Marriage & Family Therapy, Professional Counseling & Social Work obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

  • Counselor credentialed from the Wisconsin Board of Marriage & Family Therapy, Professional Counseling & Social Work obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

  • Social Worker credentialed from the Wisconsin Board of Marriage & Family Therapy, Professional Counseling & Social Work obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

  • BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) preferred.

  • Supervisor credentialed from the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services preferred.

Education:

  • High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Technical degree required.

Provide case management services through coordination with external resources. * Provide orientation and training to all staff regarding the EAP counseling program. Provide consultations with management regarding managing troubled associates, critical incidents and workplace violence.
