Seeking: licesned/certified Substance Abuse Counselor - we are able to provide supervision for those working towards any of the above licensures/certifications!

Shift/Schedule: 5:30am

  • 2:00pm Monday

  • Friday & occasional Saturday mornings, as needed.

Council Bluffs CTC located in Council Bluffs Iowa, is part of Acadia Healthcare's Comprehensive Treatment Centers, the leading provider of medication-assisted treatment in the nation. Our counseling team provides compassionate, high-quality counseling and therapy to patients that are seeking recovery from Opioid Use Disorder. Our mission is to provide full-circle care that includes a blend of therapies and the use of safe and effective medications. Our team is the front line of our fight against the opiate epidemic.

Your Responsibilities as a Substance Abuse Counselor:

  • Conduct individual counseling sessions, under supervision, as scheduled and documents as required;

  • Conduct group and/or family sessions, under supervision, as scheduled and documents as required;

  • May co-facilitate assigned group or family sessions;

  • Responsible for initial assessments, as well as follow up assessment, for patients;

  • Prepare an individual treatment plans for each assigned patient;

  • Ensure all documentation regarding patient care, treatment and incidents is completed timely and in a clear, concise manner;

  • May act as a liaison between referral sources and patients;

  • Provide crisis intervention to patients, as needed;

  • May plan for aftercare for assigned patients;

  • May act as a liaison with insurance carriers, as requested;

  • May provide case management duties for patients, insuring individualized quality care;

  • Evaluate patient' needs and determines if referrals to other programs or facilities are needed; and,

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Your Skills and Qualifications as a Substance Abuse Counselor:

  • Bachelor's degree in social or health services field, with 2+ years exp in counseling field; or bachelor's degree in other field with 4+ years in the counseling field; OR
  • Master's degree in social or health services field, with 1 year professional work exp; degree must be from an accredited college or university.

VIEW JOBS 11/13/2022 12:00:00 AM 2023-02-11T00:00 <p>Purpose:</p><p>Assesses the spiritual needs of patients/families and collaborates with the interdisciplinary hospice team and community spiritual leaders to provide spiritual care and support.</p><p>Responsibilities:</p><ul><li><p>Assesses patient's spiritual care needs. Assesses the spiritual care needs of the primary caregiver and other family members as requested.</p></li><li><p>Collaborates with the Interdisciplinary group (IDG), to set up a patient driven plan of care that addresses spiritual needs identified in the assessments.</p></li><li><p>Facilitates involvement with local faith communities.</p></li><li><p>Provides services to patients and families that address the goals of the plan of care. Provides counseling services as appropriate before and after the death has occurred within the scope of practice of an interfaith spiritual leader in compliance with all organization, professional and industry standards.</p></li><li><p>Participates in the training of staff, volunteers and community agencies as requested.</p></li><li><p>Participates in education for contract facilities/services.</p></li><li><p>Documents accurate and ongoing patient information, with in the patient medical record. All documentation is complete according to organizational, and professional standards. All documentation is completed as it occurs.</p></li><li><p>Actively participate in team meetings, committees and quality improvement planning and processes.</p></li><li><p>Takes part, when possible, to meet a patient/family's need for continuous care in time of crisis.</p></li><li><p>Minimizes non-productive time and slow periods with activities to prepare to meet the future needs of the agency.</p></li><li><p>Assists patients, family members and all contacts according to the general performance standards, demonstrating organizational values with all interactions. Coordinates community resources and other agency disciplines participating in patient care.</p></li><li><p>Leads, supervises and maintains ongoing effective communication with other hospice personnel involved with patient care. This may involve formal and informal meetings outside of IDG.</p></li><li><p>Participates in hospice and community health programs as required to promote the growth and understanding of the hospice philosophy, including but not limited to, hospice education presentations.</p></li><li><p>Serves as a spiritual care resource to hospice staff and volunteers related to patient care issues.</p></li></ul><p>Qualifications:</p><ul><li><p>Master of Divinity or Master of Theological Studies and 1 unit Clinical Pastoral Education preferred</p></li><li><p>Minimum of two years' experience in a pastoral/counseling role preferred</p></li><li><p>Ability to provide spiritual support to patients and family members experiencing end of life</p></li><li><p>Ability to build rapport with patients and family members, utilizing effective communication skills</p></li><li><p>Ability to perform basic computer and keyboard skills</p></li><li><p>Ability to work independently, plan and organize workload efficiently</p></li><li><p>Mandatory Reporter of Child and Dependent Adult abuse training certification (within 30 days of hire)</p></li><li><p>Must have valid driver's license, auto liability insurance and reliable transportation if driving is required</p></li><li><p>Successful completion of pre-employment physical, drug screen, 2-step TB test and background check</p></li></ul><p>Working Conditions:</p><ul><li><p>Physical requirements: Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and /or up to 10 pounds of force frequently.</p></li><li><p>Physical activities: walking, standing, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, fingering and gripping and reaching</p></li><li><p>Environment: Hazards (chemicals, infectious diseases), Atmospheric conditions (fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases);Environment may vary</p></li><li><p>Time: Work hours based on patient-driven census model</p></li><li><p>Travel: Required between locations</p></li></ul><p>These characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
