Job Description: Overview

We are currently seeking a full-time Substance Abuse Counselor for our Temecula Valley Comprehensive Treatment Center. Hours are 40/week which may begin from 5:00 am to 1:30 pm with change to flexible hours in coordination with the Clinical Supervisor and Clinic Director.

Temecula Valley Treatment Center, a member of Acadia Healthcare's Comprehensive Treatment Centers, is a part of the leader in medication assisted treatment for individuals struggling with an opioid addiction. With full-circle care that includes a blend of therapies and the use of safe and effective medications, we are prepared to treat the entire problem, not just a piece of it.

Position Characteristics

The Substance Abuse Counselor is a counseling professional who provides treatment and support to assist patients in their recovery from addictions, such as alcoholism, drug addiction, eating disorders, or other behavioral problems, assists with modifying problem behaviors; may also provide counseling services to families of patients through an outpatient setting.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts individual counseling sessions, under supervision, as scheduled and documents as required;

  • Conducts group and/or family sessions, under supervision, as scheduled and documents as required;

  • May co-facilitate assigned group or family sessions;

  • Responsible for initial assessments, as well as follow up assessment, for patients;

  • Prepares individual treatment plan for each assigned patients;

  • Ensures all documentation regarding patient care, treatment and incidents are completed timely and in a clear, concise manner;

  • May act as a liaison between referral sources and patients;

  • Provides crisis intervention to patients, as needed;

  • May plan for aftercare for patients;

  • May act as a liaison with insurance carriers, as requested;

  • May provide case management duties for patients, ensuring individualized quality care;

  • Evaluates patient's needs and determines if referrals to other programs or facilities is needed; and,

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in social or health services field with 4+ years experience in counseling field; or bachelor's degree in other field with 6+ years experience in the counseling field; or master's degree in social or health services field with 2+ years experience in counseling field; degree must be from an accredited college or university

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Advanced AOD counseling certification status, Licensure in the State of California.

Explains the physical and financial assessment processes to prospects and coordinates required staff interviews and credit checks. * Closes contractual arrangements. Communicates availability of units and status of waiting lists. * Requests assistance of marketing assistant when appropriate to coordinate needs relating to logistics of new resident moves including such things as transference of keys, furniture move-in coordination, unit preparation, new resident orientation and welcoming, etc. * May provide input regarding the development of promotional brochures, videos and mailings as used in networking referrals and marketing to prospective residents. * Prepares written reports and communicates status of current success in a clear and concise manner.Required skills and qualifications: * A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in coursework and related experience is required. * Minimum of five years of progressive experience in the real estate or health care field including experience in such areas as promotion, public relations, or admissions, including a minimum of two years with a proven sales or promotion track record. * Prior experience selling or promoting senior residential and health care services is highly preferred. * Reliable car transportation with insurance, plus a valid driver's license.
