West Central Behavioral Health is looking to hire a substance abuse clinician for our Lebanon Adult and Sullivan County House of Corrections location. West Central is the nonprofit community mental health care provider for Sullivan County and the Upper Valley, ensuring access to advanced counseling, treatment, and support for people of all ages, regardless of their ability to pay.
This position reports to the Program Coordinator and is responsible for the assessment and treatment of Transitional Reentry and Inmate Life Skills (TRAILS)/Corrections participants in accordance with accepted program practices and policies. The Substance Abuse Clinician provides group and individual treatment in Correctional Environment and clinical aftercare services in Community Mental Health setting. The Substance Abuse Clinician will participate in weekly team/supervisory meetings with highly skilled clinicians with focus on delivering effective evidence-based care.
Identify and develop primary and long- term professional relationships with community advocates and care providers.
Organize and participate in abuse education and treatment groups, emphasizing those skills required for participants to develop and maintain a drug and alcohol free lifestyle.
Provide initial abuse assessment and remedial treatment plans.
Provide aftercare services at WCBH that include group and individual counseling.
Act as liaison to community organizations and concerned individuals through support and information about programs and agencies providing services.
Inform the Coordinator regularly about progress and developments in areas of responsibility and influence.
Establish professional relationships with other long-term treatment facilities and programs as needed.
Provide advocacy and support to all participants within areas of responsibility and influence.
Collaborate with other team members ensuring participants needs and goals are met.
Maintain clients records according to program procedure and complete all paperwork in a timely accurate manner.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Sullivan County House of Corrections (SCHOC) Program Director.
The candidate for this position shall possess a Bachelors Degree in education, rehabilitation counseling or human services from an accredited college or university. Candidate shall have a minimum of two years of supervised counseling experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. MLADC, LMHC, LICSW, and/or Masters level clinician preferred.
The successful candidate will have knowledge of, or interest in, the principles of correctional institution operations, knowledge of criminal codes, knowledge of facility rules and regulations, skills training and instruction, have the ability to use computers, manage difficult people under stress and be able to communicate effectively. The candidate must possess a current New Hampshire drivers license, pass a physical examination, drug screen and have an acceptable criminal background check. The candidate must be capable of social and professional interaction on varying levels cognitive behaviors to include educational, literacy, cultural, developmental disabilities, health and biomedical, as well as community needs such as housing and dependent family situations. Comfort working in a correctional facility required.
