Job Description:

Greenwich, CT Public Schools seeks an innovative and dynamic leader to serve as the next PreK-12 Arts Program Coordinator. The PreK-12 Arts Program Coordinator is responsible for designing, developing, and evaluating the PreK-12 arts instructional program. The PreK-12 Arts Program Coordinator leads the district's PreK-12 teaching and learning program for all students, including via core curriculum, universal instructional practices, common assessments, data analysis, and professional learning. The PreK-12 Arts Program Coordinator reports directly to the Chief Officer of Curriculum & Leadership K-12.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Leads the PreK-12 arts instructional program and services to ensure coordination across all schools, with uniform and equitable implementation to align with district improvement goals.

  • Plans, develops, coordinates, evaluates, revises, and provides access to the PreK-12 arts program, in conjunction with other administrators.

  • Ensures that PreK-12 arts teachers effectively utilize approved curriculum, resources, and assessments.

  • Ensures accountability through the design and implementation of methods of assessment and analysis of results.

  • Provides support to instructional staff to adjust their instructional strategies to meet the needs of each student.

  • Develops and implements procedures to develop PreK-12 arts print and non-print resources.

  • Guides and encourages professional learning through the planning, development, and implementation of meaningful staff meetings and staff development programs.

  • Recommends PreK-12 arts program staff assignments in coordination with building administrators.

  • Evaluates PreK-12 arts program staff as assigned.

  • Participates in the goal-setting component of the teacher appraisal process when appropriate and in informal and formal observations, individual conferences, and periodic evaluation of the performance of PreK-12 arts program staff members.

  • Models and observes classroom instruction and provides appropriate feedback.

  • Assists in recruiting and interviewing prospective PreK-12 arts teachers.

  • Serves as program leader and liaison between the district and the program teachers.

  • Interprets the PreK-12 arts program to members of the public.

  • Reports as needed on developments in the PreK-12 arts program.

  • Develops, recommends, and assists in implementing the PreK-12 arts program budget.

  • Serves on standing and special committees as assigned.

  • Travels to school buildings and professional meetings as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to successfully provide leadership in the development and implementation of an outstanding PreK-12 arts program, including strong curriculum, instruction, and assessment.

  • Knowledge of current PreK-12 arts teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as how to differentiate instruction.

  • Knowledge of best practices in administration, program evaluation, and staff supervision.

  • Proficiency with technology to enhance PreK-12 arts education.

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills.

  • Outstanding written, oral, and presentational communication skills.

  • Outstanding research, analytical, organizational, and writing skills.

  • Ability to organize multiple tasks and conflicting time constraints.

  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation concerning leadership, performance, and professional growth.

  • State Certification, or certifiability, in Intermediate Administration or Supervision (#092)

  • Previous experience as an administrator or supervisor preferred.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Standard administrator work schedule including attendance at Board meetings and other meetings as needed.

  • Carries out his/her professional responsibilities to the extent required by the operational programs of the Greenwich Board of Education.

  • Salary and benefits package is based on the Agreement between the Greenwich Board of Education and the Greenwich Organization of School Administrators
