Subcontract Buyer - Project Management
The Subcontract Buyer positions will be responsible for the procurement for all programs, including VIRGINIA, COLUMBIA, and SSNX in the Materials Management supply chain organization. The positions include both design and construction supply chain efforts and tasks associated with our Integrated Enterprise Plan.
Responsibilities will include all aspects of procurement and supplier interface including, but not limited to: strategic sourcing of various components, work scope development, generation of requests for proposals, coordination of the bid process, cost/price analysis, contract terms and conditions and price negotiations, material and services prioritization, claim resolution, subcontract closeout,and Project Management of supplier development and manufacturing programs is a requirement of these positions. An understanding of contract administration is a requirement of this position.
The position requires excellent interpersonal skills, strong computer skills, and a good understanding of supply chain information systems and business processes. The ability to interface effectively with Shipyard End Users, Electric Boat Engineering and Quality Personnel, Quonset Point and Groton Machine Shops, senior management at suppliers, as well as Electric Boat Executive Staff is required.
The successful candidate must be a self-starter and have strong verbal, written, and organization skills. The successful candidate must be capable of working independently, prioritize assignments, develop power point presentations and must be able to demonstrate the ability to solve problems and make sound business decisions.
Electric Boat offers Flexible Work Arrangements that allows some work to be performed remotely and at home, this varies from position to position based on the amount of classified material the department interacts with, as well as a few other variables. Employee must also be able to work in-office in the Groton and New London facilities. Please ask for more details on how it applies to this opening during discussions with the department.
Qualifications
Required:
Must be able to obtain a Bachelor's degree by May 2023
Travel will be required monthly and/or quarterly
Applicant must possess or be able to secure secret or higher DOD clearance
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree with a concentration in Supply Chain Management, Contracts, Management, Communication or Financial discipline.
3-8 years' work experience in materials acquisition, supply chain management, operations/manufacturing and related technical knowledge
Experience in working with Government Contracts
