A stylist-in-training is a temporary 90-day position designed to identify top talent and integrate an unlicensed, future stylist into the salon workplace and to help them learn the business. They will gain valuable insight from top, innovative stylists in the industry. The stylist-in-training must receive their license and apply for the stylist position to be considered for promotion.

More specifically, the stylist-in-training's duties include:

  • Market and grow the business

  • Observe other stylists/managers at work and ask relevant questions

  • Model the way for other stylists and set the pace

  • Provide exceptional customer service

  • Promote and sell services and retail products

  • Answer telephones, stock and dust shelves, and sweep hair

  • Complete all other duties as assigned by manager

To be considered for the promotion, the stylist-in-training must:

  • Possess a valid appropriate license in his/her applicable state of employment

  • Have the ability to perform the duties of the license requirements that their state allows, including, but not limited to: cutting, styling, coloring, providing wax treatments, and washing/perming hair with or without an accommodation

  • Has demonstrated an ability to uphold the highest clientele standards, develop relationships to ensure repeat visits, and acted as a team player within the salon.


  • Ability to follow direction from the salon manager and stay on track with communicated expectations

  • Promote and sell services and products, including recommending and selling additional services and/or retail products which will enhance and improve the customer's image and/or contribute to the customer's satisfaction with services performed

  • Clearly convey a complete understanding of pricing for available services

  • Responsible for sales to walk-in retail customers

  • Understand the needs of the customer, greet each customer professionally by name, escort all clients through the salon, give salon tour when necessary

  • Estimate wait times for scheduled and unscheduled appointments

  • Answer the telephone promptly and professionally

  • Handle general complaints and refer customer service issues to the manager

  • Follow weekly salon schedules as directed by Salon Manager

  • Correctly charge for services rendered and products purchased, including proper discounting according to Company policy

  • Safeguard company assets by adhering to company policies and procedures

  • Answering telephones, stocking shelves, sweeping hair and other duties as assigned by manager

  • Communicate effectively with management, customers and co-workers in a professional and courteous manner

  • Maintain and uphold safety standards by identifying and correcting conditions that affect salon safety

  • Attend work timely and consistently, including attending mandatory staff meetings, training sessions or as otherwise required by management

  • Adhere to all corporate policies, procedures and work rules

  • Handle all POS transactions including opening and closing the register


  • Must graduate from an accredited cosmetology school and obtain the necessary license(s) to perform salon services within or before 90 days of hire-date

  • Ability to work in a dynamic salon environment

  • Good time management skills, good judgment, and the ability to multi-task

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills to communicate in a professional and courteous manner with customers, co-workers, and management

  • Computer knowledge including but not limited to point-of- sale systems and data entry

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing for sustained periods of time

  • Frequent lifting up to 10 pounds, occasionally up to 25 pounds

  • Continuous repetitive movement with fingers, hands, wrists and arms

  • Continuous grasping and reaching, often above shoulder level

  • Ability to be exposed to various chemicals and fragrances used in performing services

  • Ability to observe guest's hair, including close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus

  • Ability to communicate with guest regarding services offered and requested and the guest's needs and wants

Counsel the team to manage the resources, budget, and operations of an FTO site in a cost efficient way while delivering safe and high-quality flight training. Deploy and streamline all necessary procedures and processes, and ensure compliance with CAE/CAT Americas' policies. Support the FTO Training team within the scope of the agreed budget and meet the budgeted targets related to productivity, SOI, and cost. Deliver input for the FTO budget and forecasting of results. Analyze equipment and manpower needs related to the FTO production plan in close coordination with CAT Americas Management and Finance. Establish and maintain a solid business relationship with CAE's clients in the aviation industry to deliver high levels of customer satisfaction and maintain high safety standards. Ensure efficient, safe and high-quality training is delivered in line with customer contracts through customer-focused staff and communication. Support the development and execution of local marketing and sales activities to increase student intake levels and overall revenue for the FTO. Supervise and manage the FTO's Management Team and their departmental activities. Arrange for staffing of all required positions. Work in close connection with the Head of Training Delivery and the FAA CFR Part 141 certificate postholder (Chief Instructor) to ensure that all professional pilot training is conducted safely and in accordance with regulations. Lead meetings with prospective clients and act as point of contact for existing customers and regulatory agencies in order to create, update, and tailor training to meet customer and regulatory demands. Ensure that all staff members are regulated under a training and standardization plan. Promote and execute Safety Management and Quality Systems. Integrate safe behavior and quality management in daily operations. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Must have a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Business Administration, Management, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline, and 10 years of experience as an aviation pilot or flight/simulator instructor. Of the required experience, must have 6 years of experience with the following: Establishing and managing budgets for pilot training activities; Developing metrics/assessment tools to understand the overall performance of pilot training programs; and Managing quality and safety in the context of an aviation training school. Must have been awarded an EASA ATPL or FAA ATP license. Travel up to 20% is required.
