Summary

Study Directors have ultimate accountability for ensuring studies are executed to the specifications of the client outlined in a scope of work, meeting or exceeding client expectations without deviation and on a specific budget. The incumbent is responsible for mentoring Project Manager(s), Senior Project Manager(s), and a team of technicians tasked with executing scientific studies on behalf of external or internal customers in a collaborative in vivo laboratory environment.

In addition, the incumbent will ensure accuracy in: quoting, revenue forecasting and invoicing of the studies. The incumbent is responsible for depositing normative data from mouse models into a shared knowledge company database , publications and conference presentations.

Responsibilities

Provide scientific guidance and support to clients meeting or exceeding their expectations for quality of service and execution of science.

Provide leadership to staff within your reporting structure ensuring they have adequate training and mentoring to support the in vivo services drive for scientific quality and operational efficiency in support of the labs goals and holding them accountable for the same.

Ensure staff understand and are compliant with all policies, procedures and practices established by the organization thus ensuring the most efficient operation of the laboratory to provide clients with the highest quality scientific service while meeting organizational operations and financial targets. This includes AXAPTA data entry, LIMS data entry, PPE requirements and general lab operations.

Work with colleagues to establish agreed standards for our most frequently run studies and ensure these standards are followed unless changes are well documented and approved by the client. Ensure baseline model performance data (such as disease induction rate, disease progression timeline, etc) are compiled, submitted to the head of operation and Business Unit Manager, and shared with colleagues.

Application of grants where possible for funding the research and development of new study platforms; writing of manuscripts when applicable.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in a life science is required along with a minimum of 4 years' experience in a contract research laboratory, pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry; working experience in Immunology and/or Oncology is preferred.

Must have experience with in vivo study design, mouse models, and scientific writing skills.

Excellent management/supervisory skills and proven experience with mentoring direct reports.

Documented ability to develop and lead technical teams.

Strong leadership and project management skills including a demonstrated ability to build key relationships, influence and motivate others.

Demonstrated success in making important decisions, often under some pressure and tight time deadlines, which carry large financial consequences.

Must have excellent human relation, communication/active listening, negotiation and relationship skills

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Prepares real estate appraisal reports from start to finish on simple, complex or special-use properties, including all Appraiser responsibilities as well as performing detailed appraisal analysis in order to value real estate with the highest quality of work product. Reviews work product of other appraisers in office and develop/maintain new client relationships in order to sell a majority of his/her own work as well as selling work for other appraisers nationwide. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Maintains organization reputation by conforming to the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP); keeping information confidential. Sells a significant amount of work to be completed by self and others in the line of business (LOB). Contributes to overall organizational goals by adding to database, setting up a library, specializing in niche real estate markets, mentoring trainees, and engaging in client development. Identifies value to be estimated by talking with client regarding appraisal request, problem to be solved, and scope of the project, such as, mortgage financing, insurance replacement cost calculation, estate valuation, tax appeals, equitable distribution, corporate employee relocation, investment, or sale; identifying property characteristics. Determines valuation method by selecting approach and techniques for valuing property, i.e., cost, direct sales comparison, and income capitalization; identifying property characteristics and attributes. Researches and analyzes property information by collecting, verifying, and analyzing data regarding inventory of competitive properties, sales and listings, vacancies and offerings, absorption rates, demand studies, social, economic, governmental, and environmental characteristics, restrictions, encumbrances, covenants, contracts, declarations, special assessments, ordinances, cost and depreciation, income/expense and capitalization rate, history of ownership, and use of the property; conducting analyzes and studies, e.g., land utilization, supply and demand, economic feasibility, highest and best use, marketability, development, litigation support; searching databases; inspecting property; interviewing people in a position to understand the property.
