Study Coordinator ( Aging Brain Center)

Overview

The Aging Brain Center (ABC), based at Marcus Institute for Aging Research, a Harvard Medical School affiliate, is looking for a highly motivated individual to support their dynamic research team. This is an ideal position for an individual who wants to work and learn in a cutting edge research environment with the goal to improve the quality of life of older adults and their families.

The Study Coordinator will work with the research team under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI, Dr. Sharon Inouye) and Project Director (Dr. Eva Schmitt). She/he will play a critical role in the conduct of several multi-site studies and will oversee daily study activities.

Intensive training will be provided. Our research is focus on cognitive disorders of aging, including delirium and dementia delirium (https://www.deliriumcentral.org/).

Responsibilities

• Monitor and track study activities to be shared with principal investigators and study staff • Ensure human subject protection and confidentiality• Support the implementation and coordination of studies• Plan and compile all aspects of meetings including scheduling, invitations, agenda development, and minutes• Manage and conduct multi-site team meetings and expert panels across multiple time zones (zoom meetings)• Experience with development and implementation of web-based data capture systems• Development/Update of Standard Operating Procedure protocols; maintenance and updating of Operations Manual for the team• Commitment to accuracy and high degree of attention to detail in data collection.• Assist with developing work flow, preparing study related reports, preparing amendments, adverse events reports, and progress reports for the Institutional Review Board (IRB), and other governing boards, such as Safety Monitoring Boards, according to established protocol.• Conduct data quality procedure• Additional responsibilities as required and assigned.• The above covers the most significant responsibilities of the position. It does not, however, exclude other duties, which would be in conformity with the level of the position. Completes special projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Master's degree and at least 2 years of research experience• Must have the ability to work on multiple projects, prioritize tasks, develop work flow, and meet study deadlines; must have ability to work effectively with an interdisciplinary team• Must enjoy and value working with/for older adults• Must be able to maintain and sustain confidentiality at all times. • Must be able to work with minimal supervision and be self-motivated.• Must have excellent writing skills.• Must have good problem-solving skills, be able to provide leadership to the team when required, and oversee the work of research assistants in the field.• Must have excellent communication skills, attention to detail, organizational skills, and be an independent performer with the ability to follow directions. • Must demonstrate flexibility in regards to center's demands and new technologies. Must be highly adaptable to competing deadlines and changes in priorities. • Must have demonstrated knowledge using Word, Excel, Power-Point and electronic data collection tools.• Must have the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and be able to trouble-shoot technical problems with field data acquisition, data transfer, and data validation.• Must demonstrate respect and professionalism regarding subjects' rights, individual needs, and a working knowledge of HIPAA Protected Health Information regulations.
