Job Summary/Basic Functions

Student workers will support either the Model Laboratory School's Extended Learning Program or Child Development Preschool Program through direct oversight and interaction with students following daily activities.

The Extended Learning Program serves Model students in grades K - 6 from 2:15 PM - 6:00 PM daily, Monday

  • Friday, during the Model School year.

The Child Development Center provides services for children ages 2 - 5 years of age daily, Monday-Friday, during the school year.

Both programs are flexible to accommodate university student workers schedules.

Student workers must be self - motivated, able to multitask, well organized, possess superior verbal and written communication and time management skills, able to work in small or large groups (students and staff), and provide help with daily activities, homework, and all around supervision.

Must be able to meet physical requirements, such as standing, walking, cleaning, or lifting up to 40 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience: Must be a current Eastern Kentucky University Student, eligible for student pay and available for the required hours

Preferred Qualifications:

The student worker should have an interest in working with children and be energetic, motivated, punctual and organized.

Job Duties:

  • 80% - Work under the direction of a supervisor to engage students in indoor and outdoor learning activities, including games, field trips, and working with individuals and groups. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Assist students in your care as needed with completion of basic tasks. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Help to maintain a safe and positive learning environment. - (Essential)
