Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
Provides direct care to patients, residents, clients in need of assistance during their imaging procedure. This role completes duties as assigned by the Lead Technologist or designated healthcare professional in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations and within the policies, procedures and guidelines of Mercy Health.
Essential Job Functions
Provides direct patient care under the supervision of the lead technologist or licensed sonographer.
Assists with procedures as defined by department specific standards.
Properly introduces him/herself to patients waiting for diagnostic imaging procedures.
Verifies identity of patient by name and birthdate.
Escorts patient to imaging dressing area and facilitates patient getting dressed properly for imaging procedure.
Presents patients with a professional demeanor.
Assists with patient post procedure care.
Contributes to the evaluation of the patient's response to interventions through observation and communication.
Actively participates in departmental performance improvement projects, attends, and participates in department meetings.

Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age, specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in departmental policies and procedures.
