Position: Student Transportation Driver
Reports To: District administration
Start Date: March 26, 2018
Compensation: $17.92 per hour worked
Hours: As needed, approximately 25 hours per week (between 8:00am 1:30pm)

The Wethersfield Public Schools partner with the community and families in fostering our students' ongoing education in a safe and engaging learning environment. Our district has an immediate opening for a Student Transportation Driver. The driver will be responsible for safely transporting students and staff to various events and activities both within our local community as well as to surrounding communities.
The driver must be aware of and facilitate appropriate and safe behavior of all passengers, ensuring safe transportation to/from all destinations. The driver must maintain vehicle cleanliness, perform pre/post inspections to ensure the safe operating condition of district vehicles, log all trips according to district policy, operate vehicles consistent with safe driving practices and all State licensing requirements, and immediately report issues of concern to district administration (i.e., accidents, vehicle maintenance issues, passenger misconduct, inappropriate behavior, etc.). Depending on the size of the group being transported, the driver may operate a passenger van or full-sized bus.
High school diploma;
Must hold valid Class B Connecticut drivers' license with A, P, S and airbrake endorsements;
Prior school district driving experience is preferred, but not required;
Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively with other district staff/students;
Demonstrated ability to meet job expectations in regards to safe driving, punctuality, professionalism and courtesy.
