This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Student Technical Assistant positions for the Department of Food Science and Technology (FST) at Oregon State University (OSU).
This position performs research or field work, in support of academic faculty Tomasino research program.
Position Duties
Must be a student in the College of Agriculture, College of Life Science, or College of Science
Must have taken and successfully completed or be enrolled (summer 2024) in CH231-233, BI212.
The candidate must be able to communicate effectively in both written and oral English.

Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*
International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered "full-time" by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Additional Required Qualifications
Be in an active Viticulture & Enology program or Food Science & Technology program
Have prior experience in wine industry
Successfully (B or better) completed organic chemistry or biochemistry
Experience with analytical chemistry
Completed or enrolled in statistics courses
Preferred (Special) Qualifications Working Conditions / Work Schedule
To be determined by hiring unit. Conditions vary depending on location.
May include travel to and from research sites.
May require walking, standing, bending and stooping for extended periods.
May require maneuvering and transporting heavy objects, need to be able to lift 50 pounds regularly.
May require working with or around chemicals, caustic compounds or hazardous materials.
