Position Summary

Salary range for this position is: $19.97/hr. (depending on experience)

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. The employer will not sponsor applicants for work visas.

The Student Sustainability Coordinators support environmental and social sustainability initiatives at Seattle Colleges by representing student voices on the Seattle Colleges District Sustainability Committee, hosting events and performing outreach at their campus to engage the campus community in sustainability topics, managing the sustainability social media for the college, and researching sustainability initiatives.

As the Sustainability Coordinator, your will learn the following skills:

  • Research

This position is PART-time, working 10 hours per week, Monday through Friday, primarily between the hours of 8am-5pm. The exact schedule of hours will be set on a quarterly basis between the hiring manager and the employee.

What you will be working on:

  • Under the supervision of the Sustainability Manager, the Student Sustainability Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for:

  • Serving as a student representative on the Seattle Colleges District Sustainability Committee. Responsibilities include: attending meetings, note taking, researching sustainability topics to prepare for meeting discussions, and outreach to students to gather feedback about the Seattle Colleges District Sustainability Committee projects

  • Hosting events and performing outreach on campus to engage the campus community in sustainability topics. Responsibilities include: planning 1 event per month, managing event budget, and tabling at other Seattle Colleges events

  • Managing the sustainability social media page for the college. Responsibilities include: creating educational graphics, advertising events, writing short news articles

  • Perform other duties as required.

What you bring as a candidate: (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience)

  • Must plan to be an enrolled student at Seattle Central College, the Maritime Academy or the Wood Technology Center for Fall 2024

  • Must plan to be enrolled in at least 6 credits per quarter throughout the 2024-25 academic year (excluding Summer Quarter)

  • Must have and maintain at least a 2.5 quarterly/cumulative GPA

  • Must be able to commit at minimum, 6-months (2 quarters).

Physical Requirements:

The Position

  • Typically works in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to Perform duties. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office.

  • Encounters frequent interruptions throughout the workday.

  • Is regularly required to provide 1:1 support, present to small groups, and work at a computer exercising repetitive hand motion with or without reasonable accommodation.
