The Office of Student Support Case Coordinator will be the primary institutional point person for students in need of social service resources and managing the RCBC food pantry. They will conduct assessments, refer students to community resources, and organizations in the community. They will assist students with emotional, social, and academic challenges, whether they originate on campus or at home, referring them to community, county, and state resources. Ensuring the overall wellbeing of students and support to improve student persistence and degree completion.

  • Assist and respond to the Office of Student Support form submissions, emails, phone calls, and walk-in traffic regarding the information on community, county, and state social service resources.

  • Manage and facilitate the college food pantry, including student staffing, inventory management, scheduling and ensuring accessibility for students.

  • Communicate with county and state food agencies to order, track, and restock food pantry.

  • Track usage, trends and necessary paperwork and documentation for the food pantry.

  • Must be able to stand, sit, walk and lift 25 lbs. to assist with food pantry responsibilities.

  • Conducting initial assessments of students' situations to determine needs and goals.

  • Meet one-on-one with students in need of assistance for intake appointments for support services.

  • Maintain accurate, comprehensive, confidential, and up-to-date notes/records within the OSS database, file scanning, and provide reports on department data as requested.

  • Coordinating treatment planning and maintaining ongoing contact with community providers for the continual care of students.

  • Researching and advocating for appropriate public assistance resources for students.

  • Assist the department with the promotion of awareness of social services and resource initiatives within the college community.

  • Serve on appropriate committees.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, maintain consistent scheduled office hours, and accommodate student and college appointments at all locations. Hours will fluctuate based on the college calendar, food pantry delivery, and student needs.

  • Other duties as assigned.

OVERALL PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITY:

The primary and most important overall responsibility of all employees is to provide service in a pleasant, helpful, and effective manner to our students and other members of the College community.Education Required:

  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred.

Experience Required:

  • At least one (1) year of experience working in customer service, social work, social services, case management, human services, community outreach or related field required.

  • Three to five (3-5) years of experience, or the equivalent, in one or more of the following areas: social work, social services, case management, human services, or community outreach and management experience preferred.

Skills/Abilities /Knowledge /Other Requirements:

  • Knowledge and expertise of Social Services resources, the Board of Social Services, community agencies for students in need, and working with individuals who have mental health, disabilities, or a coexisting diagnosis.

  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations for managing a food pantry or food bank.

  • Knowledge of how to refer students to county and state resources.

  • Must be able to operate in compliance with confidentiality requirements.

  • Demonstrated ability to respond in an appropriate and timely manner to inquiries (students, faculty, staff, community)

  • A commitment to serve as an advocate for students who are in crisis, homeless, struggling with food insecurity, and other needs.

  • Ability to communicate effectively regarding referrals, on or off-campus.

  • Active listening, strong interpersonal skills, compassion, time management, organizational skills, and critical thinking.

  • Excellent customer services, verbal and written communication, and computer skills.

  • Extensive experience with document management and case notes.

  • Proficient with technology, computers and with Google Docs, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), WebEx, email software, and database systems.

INSTITUTIONAL EFFECTIVENESS:

Collaborates with department members and/or the Compliance, Assessment and Research team to support planning, assessment, data collection and reporting for continuous improvement of the college.
