Position Summary
As a Student Support Associate, you will play a crucial role in providing academic assistance and guidance to students at Amber Charter Schools. Your primary responsibilities include offering support services to enhance the overall student experience, addressing academic concerns, and promoting a positive learning environment. This position requires a strong commitment to student success, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders. The Student Support Associate must have the ability to attend evening events periodically.
Essential Responsibilities
Contribute to Planning and Delivering Rigorous and Engaging High-Dose Tutoring
Support the academic progress of students
Assistant in the implementation of coherent, research-based intervention and supports, aligned to content and grade level specific scope and sequence guiding documents.
Use consistent school-wide practices and a variety of individualized methods to engage students in the classroom.
Guided by classroom teachers, modify, differentiate and extend learning experiences to engage all students. with disabilities, and integrate Instructional Education Plan (IEP) recommendations as appropriate.
Guided by classroom teachers, modify, differentiate and extend learning experiences to engage all ELL students.
Support the Assessment of Student Learning
Contribute to the tracking of student proficiency and progress towards achieving learning objectives with formative and summative assessment tools.
Provide ongoing and timely feedback to students on their progress towards meeting expectations and achieving goals.
Guided by classroom teachers, use student data to improve instruction and personal practice.
Create a Safe and Responsive Learning Environment
Encourage the development of the AMBER core values.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of a warm and firm learning environment that allows students to feel safe, take risks and be creative.
Model, practice and reinforce developmentally-appropriate rules and behaviors using clear and consistent procedures.
Support the implementation of behavioral management plans with individual students as needed
Build positive and supportive partnerships with families.
Guided by classroom teachers, communicate with families frequently and effectively, to provide them with information about instructional programs and student progress (report cards, parent/teacher conferences, etc.), maximize participation and respond to their concerns.
Assist with lunch and recess duty
Contribute to a Collaborative and Cohesive Staff Learning Community
Model life-long learning through professional development and individual growth activities.
Show evidence of utilizing constructive feedback to enhance the quality of learning experiences for students.
Demonstrate teamwork, actively modeling cooperation and helpfulness for students.

Required Experience and Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience teaching, tutoring and/or interaction with children of varied ages
Familiarity with high-quality curriculum programs
Must have the ability to attend evening events periodically
Strong command of all Microsoft Office and Google Suite programs
A high degree of comfort and confidence engaging children in learning and interfacing with parents/caregivers
Commitment to create and maintain a safe and responsive learning environment
Capacity to develop strong relationships based on trust, respect, effective communication, and common goals
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple obligations and initiatives, strong attention to detail and excellent time management
Complete and pass pre-employment fingerprinting and reference check process
Legally eligible to work in the United States
Perform other duties as assigned
Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree
2 years experience working with children in a afterschool, daycare, camp or school setting
Experience working with children in a schools setting
New York State Teacher Assistant Certification
Interest in pursuing a teaching career is highly encouraged
Ability to speak, write and understand Spanish fluently

Compensation:
Amber Charter Schools strictly follow a salary schedule for each role to ensure our continued commitment towards pay equity. The expected salary range for this role is $34k- $54k, depending on verified relevant work experience, highest level of completed education, and required certifications and/or licenses for the role. This is an exempt position.
