The Student Support and Event (SSE) Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day administrative and program support of both undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in the programs of the School of Business. This is a student-facing position, and the SSE Coordinator will be one of the first individuals with whom many students interested in business programs may interact. As such, the Coordinator must fully understand the degree, program, and major requirements as well as academic policies and procedures. The SSE Coordinator is also responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing successful events that support students' learning, while maintaining documentation appropriate for internal use by and accreditation support for the department head and dean.

Duties:

  • Provide personalized support for undergraduate students who are declaring a major in Business Administration in the School of Business. Initiate, develop and sustain strong positive relationships with department chair, faculty, and staff to ensure achievement of all goals specific to this position.

  • Assign departmental advisors to newly declared or transferred undergraduate students. Provide personalized advising for graduate students enrolled in the MBA program. This includes serving as primary academic advisor to MBA students, assisting with course planning, and communicating information about academic standing. This also includes assisting entering students with the required prerequisite waiver courses (such as advising on when to enroll in each based on the student's planned course trajectory, providing other academic support as needed, and handling all related troubleshooting).

  • Assist all students with issues related to graduation, petitions, withdrawals, student orientation, and events.

  • Serve as the liaison to the graduate committee of the School of Business.

  • Track graduate student course progression and work with the department chair to help plan the MBA course schedule.

  • Coordinate Business School involvement with prospective student tours, classroom visits, Think Meredith, and Experience Meredith programs.

  • Plan or coordinate with faculty events such as MBA Speaker Series, Major Declaration Day, MBA orientation, award and hooding ceremonies, etc. Provide support for any event details, including venues, vendors, guests, and budget. Work with Meredith College events staff to coordinate events logistics.

  • Design, plan, and implement other student-oriented events to support student learning and engagement.

  • Communicate information about events to students, faculty, staff, and guests.

  • Develop and produce program advertising, promotional flyers and social media content related to student or alumni success and events within the School of Business, in consultation with the department chair and/or dean.

  • Capture, communicate and store information about student engagement and impact for accreditation purposes.

Qualifications:

The SSE Coordinator must have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience plus three (3) years of relevant work in an academic setting. A customer service orientation is required.

The SSE Coordinator must demonstrate excellent communication skills to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students as well as excellent organizational skills. The SSE Coordinator will need to be resourceful, proactive, persistent, and creative in problem-solving. Computer skills must include experience with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Google Workspace, including Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides, as well as Canva and design skills. Web page creation and maintenance experience is a plus. Experience with higher education software such as Datatel, Slate, etc. is a plus.
