Position Summary:
The Student Success Coordinator will assist the counseling department in implementing the TSAS comprehensive school counseling program by collaborating with school, faculty, families, and students in grades 6-12 to provide targeted academic, behavioral, and social/emotional support to help students achieve personal goals and succeed in the classroom and beyond. The Student Success Coordinator will review attendance, academic and behavioral data to assist in the development, planning, coordination, and assessment of student success interventions, programs, events, activities, and workshops designed to support student achievement, grade level transition, retention, and graduation achievement. The goal of the Student Success Coordinator position is to strengthen the connection between TSAS' student support services, classroom teachers, and students' families.
Responsibilities:
Supports counseling department with low-level student behavior management and coaching
Regularly communicates with teachers and families regarding issues affecting the students' academic performance
Reviews school-wide attendance, academic, and behavioral data to identify and support students who need additional guidance
Collaborates with teachers to establish and ensure proactive and consistent academic and behavior management strategies in the classroom
Supports teachers in building positive relationships with students and parents
Assists Students in Achieving Academic and Behavioral Goals
Works with middle school teachers to identify students that would benefit from extra support prior to and upon entry to high school
Assists with the development, planning, coordination, and assessment of academic and other student success programs, events, activities, and workshops designed to support student grade level transition and retention (i.e. Student Success Plans, study halls, etc.)
Communicates and meets with parents to review student progress
Supports MS and HS Counselors in implementing ICAP workshops and activities
Serves as regular touch point with students on counseling department's caseload
Assists Counseling Department in Supporting High-Need Students
Supports MS and HS counselors with implementing tier two and tier three supports with students
Collaborates with the counseling department to build student success interventions, programs, events, activities, and workshops designed to support student transition and retention through a Multi-Tiered System of Support
Follows up with students who have been suspended and addresses any needs upon return
Assists counselors in developing and delivering lesson plans for small group circles and workshops
Attends professional development to gain knowledge in counseling and school protocols
Assists Teachers in Accommodation and Modification Strategies
Observes students in the classroom to develop a better understanding of their needs and supports teachers' orientation to the elements in the TSAS Teacher Toolkit
Collaborates with and supports classroom teachers in implementing classroom strategies to engage struggling students
Coordinates with grade-level teams to meet with families of struggling students and build plans for academic and behavioral success
Partners with the Special Education department to leverage their expertise to provide support to students within the classroom setting
Coordinates with the Special Education department to provide general education teachers with specific strategies to assist students with accommodations and modifications reasonable under TSAS' full-inclusion model
