Job Description

The Student Success & Support Coordinator will facilitate student academic, behavioral, and socio-emotional supports across an assigned campus. The Student Success & Support Coordinator will report directly to the School Leader. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

School-Wide Student Services Leadership

  • Develop and lead assets-based cultural practices, traditions, and celebrations at the school.

  • Support implementation of the RTI2, 504 and SPED process.

  • Manage attendance and truancy issues.

  • Oversee service and support for homeless students.

  • Ensure student socio-emotional wellness and additional support services.

  • Communicate regularly with teachers, leaders, and families to learn their perspectives regarding which students are most in need of additional support services.

  • Use data (including attendance records, discipline reports, student grades, etc.) to help determine which students are most in need of additional support services.

  • Provide counseling services to students and families.

  • Work to develop awareness of and partnerships with various long-term counseling solutions and external support organizations in order to effectively link students and families with additional support services.

Student Behavior Intervention and Support

  • Lead the collaborative effort to create and implement plans that provide differentiated behavior support for selected students throughout the school day.

  • Track progress towards behavioral goals and regularly report on this progress to relevant stakeholders.

  • Continually adjust both goals and services to ensure that each student is on a path towards college and career readiness.

Student Enrollment

  • Provide enrollment information meetings for potential students and families.

  • Support planning and implementation of school-wide registration events, including commitment to excellence meetings, to welcome new families to our school

  • Track weekly attendance and intervene when necessary.

Character Education

  • Support implementation of the Character Education Program.

Educational Equity and Inclusion

  • Support the KIPP Delta Public Schools vision for academic excellence and critical consciousness so that our students have "access to pursue the path they choose."

  • Engage with "love, faith, and humility" towards ALL members of our community.

  • Regularly do the foundational work of learning and understanding the original dehumanization of African Americans and how the laws and policies created through this process resulted in systemic racism for the purpose of white supremacy and the cultural rules and norms of white supremacy and anti-blackness.

  • Commit to develop a working knowledge of internalized racism and how and why educated, intelligent and dynamic BIPOC may produce a fear response in both white and other BIPOC peoples and how to respond and support others if/when this phenomenon occurs.

  • Encourage student independence and choice, embracing multiple means of completing a task/activity; welcoming students to be themselves and to bring their family culture to school, while teaching them what white culture is and how each show up outside of KIPP Delta Public Schools; openly sharing rationale for the "why" behind vision, value, policy, and/or practice.

  • Work to ensure students, staff and families of all identity groups are full participants in decisions that shape the school or department.

  • Commit to working with families as equals, co-educators, learners, and decision makers.

Qualifications

  • Must be a licensed social worker, licensed counselor, or licensed psychologist.

  • 3 years of teaching, counseling, and/or behavior specialist experience desired.

  • Commitment to the success of African American and underrepresented student populations.

  • Experience analyzing data and using data to drive results.

  • Professional demeanor with strong self-confidence and initiative.

  • Demonstrated passion for the mission, vision and values of KIPP Delta Public Schools; comfort and willingness to actively participate in the school and neighborhood community
