Midland University, a private, Christian, liberal arts university in Fremont, Nebraska (just outside of metro Omaha), is seeking a Student Success Advisor for the Student Success Center. The Student Success Advisor is responsible for student registration, academic coaching, student advocacy and supporting student success.
Serve as a success coach to students, supporting all student persistence and achievement initiatives on campus.
Develop individual relationships and maintain direct contact with student advisees on an ongoing basis to set goals, develop action plans for academic success, schedule courses and identify barriers to success.
Closely monitor students to identify at-risk situations and opportunities to improve graduation success.
Give and receive referrals to and from faculty and other University offices for students' major considerations, academic issues, or personal concerns.
Provide proactive and timely outreach and intervention through a variety of methods to facilitate effective communication.
Exhibit goal-orientation and drive to achieve institutional benchmarks and departmental goals. Participate and support all key departmental operations including: strategic planning and program assessment, data tracking and monitoring, proper filing of documentation and participation in departmental meetings.
A bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with high degree of attention to detail
Skills at connecting and building rapport with students from diverse backgrounds
Proficiency with basic software programs and applications, such as Microsoft Office
An ability to work independently and in a team environment
Effective one on one and long term relationship building skills
A positive attitude with a strong work ethic and high level of energy
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to be flexible, creative, innovative and the ability to function efficiently in a fast-paced environment
