Midland University, a private, Christian, liberal arts university in Fremont, Nebraska (just outside of metro Omaha), is seeking a Student Success Advisor for the Student Success Center. The Student Success Advisor is responsible for student registration, academic coaching, student advocacy and supporting student success.

Job Duties

  • Serve as a success coach to students, supporting all student persistence and achievement initiatives on campus.

  • Develop individual relationships and maintain direct contact with student advisees on an ongoing basis to set goals, develop action plans for academic success, schedule courses and identify barriers to success.

  • Closely monitor students to identify at-risk situations and opportunities to improve graduation success.

  • Give and receive referrals to and from faculty and other University offices for students' major considerations, academic issues, or personal concerns.

  • Provide proactive and timely outreach and intervention through a variety of methods to facilitate effective communication.

  • Exhibit goal-orientation and drive to achieve institutional benchmarks and departmental goals. Participate and support all key departmental operations including: strategic planning and program assessment, data tracking and monitoring, proper filing of documentation and participation in departmental meetings.

Qualifications Needed:

  • A bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with high degree of attention to detail

  • Skills at connecting and building rapport with students from diverse backgrounds

  • Proficiency with basic software programs and applications, such as Microsoft Office

  • An ability to work independently and in a team environment

Should demonstrate:

  • Effective one on one and long term relationship building skills

  • A positive attitude with a strong work ethic and high level of energy

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to be flexible, creative, innovative and the ability to function efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Under the direction of the Vice President for Student Affairs, the Director of Student Success provides comprehensive, systematic, and strategic oversight of key academic support functions including, but not limited to: liaison between the Student Success Center and Student Affairs, The Academic Resource Center (ARC), Personal and Career Development Center (PCDC), The First Year Experience, Academic Core Experience (ACE), Counseling Services and the Americans with Disabilities Act Coordinator. Key Job Duties and Responsibilities: * Provide strategic leadership directed to the academic strength and personal growth of undergraduate students resulting in their graduation from the institution and long term success. * Work in partnerships to aid seamless delivery of student services and resources. (Admissions, Financial Aid, Billing Office, Housing, Student Life, ARC, Counseling, PCDC, etc.) * Support student engagement and outcomes initiatives including those focused on graduation, retention, and University mission * Provide strategic leadership directed to the academic strength and personal growth of undergraduate students resulting in their graduation from the institution and long term success * Oversee Four Year Guarantee (4YG) tracking to ensure academic pathways are clear to graduation * Support Aviso Retention Software development, monitoring, intervention management & campus training * Support leadership and development for a professional team of advisors * Work closely with Academic Affairs regarding scheduling, course offerings and rotations * Collaborate with the Director of Academic Core Experience and the Academic Resource Center to support the success of every student * Serve on Academic Committees to include but not limited to: Curriculum Committee, ACE Task-force, Internship Task-force, and Academic Progress Committee * Serve on campus committees and engage in community outreach opportunities * Other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Student Affairs Experience, Education & Training Requirements REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE * Bachelor's degree related to Student Affairs, Higher Education, or related field.
