This position supports the Director of Social Justice Initiatives and Senior Vice President for Social Justice by managing the Baldwin Rivera Boggs Social Justice Hub and assisting the students, staff, and faculty the space serves.

The Office for Social Justice seeks a Student Social Justice Hub Manager, to work with the Director of Social Justice Initiatives to maintain the environment and events calendar while reflecting the priorities of the Office for Social Justice. The manager ensures the space is used effectively by and for students, promotes stakeholder engagement, and facilitates the university community in supporting prioritized social justice activities and initiatives.

The manager is responsible for fostering a vibrant and welcoming Social Justice Hub, utilized for organizing, learning, community-building and more as appropriate. Candidates must be available to work during the academic year.

Responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to:

20 hours/week of administrative office and Social Justice Hub duties, including signage, maintenance, scheduling, programming, and staffing of the Hub.

Oversee presentation of the Social Justice Hub community space, ensure access and availability of resources to users of the Hub, and maintain a safe, inclusive environment.

Organize and sustain use of the Hub through dialogue with stakeholders, existing social justice related clubs, organizations, and initiatives on campus and off campus.

Work with various community members, under the guidance and supervision of the Director of Social Justice Initiatives, to develop and sustain programming, networks, and services grounded in social justice specifically within the Hub.

Ability to support web presence and social media updates

  • Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholder agendas.

    Ability to work independently and cooperatively, under supervision of the Director of Social Justice Initiatives.

Work collectively with staff and students from the entire University community in support of social justice initiatives on campus.

POSITION OVERVIEW The Women's Center for Gender Justice is a part of the Division of Enrollment Management & Student Affairs. The Division provides an array of intellectual and experiential opportunities for students to become engaged citizens through its various departments which support student organizations, social events, athletics and service learning opportunities as well as student support services that enhance their collegiate experience. Reporting directly to the Women's Center for Gender Justice Director, the Student Life/Women's Center for Gender Justice Services Manager will: * Plan for semester and year-long programming that serves the mission of the Women's Center for Gender Justice. Such planning will include workshops, training sessions and academic seminars on issues that affect women's and LGBTQ+ person's lives, including intimate partner violence, sexual harassment, and gender discrimination; * Oversee, manage, facilitate, assess and report a comprehensive program of services for women and LGBTQ+ students; * Develop and facilitate curricula informed by student identity development and intersectional feminist principles for the Gender Justice Advocates Program; * Represent the Director of the Women's Center for Gender Justice at administrative meetings, as appropriate and necessary, so as to best represent the interests of the Center; * Assist with the daily supervision of the Women's Center, including student personnel supervision, budgets, and facilities/equipment reservations; * Hire and supervise the Gender Justice Advocates, a selective student leadership program; * Develop collaborations with the Division of Enrollment Management & Student Affairs and Academic Affairs partners to meet the intersectional needs and interests of students; * Develop external community partnerships to create experiential learning and professional development opportunities for students; * Develop outcomes assessment tools and progressive surveying methods to evaluate and report the efficacy of current programming and to gain knowledge about new outreach possibilities in the college community and New York City at large; * Develop marketing strategies for the Women's Center for Gender Justice's programs and services to increase engagement with students, staff, and faculty; * Appraise the needs of incoming students, staff, and faculty to ascertain what resources are needed, if crisis assistance is necessary, or if future counseling appointments can be arranged; and * Provide knowledgeable referrals for all visitors seeking information and assistance from the Women's Center for Gender Justice, escort students to counseling services when needed, and maintain a high level of confidentiality in regards to sensitive issues. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree and six years related experience required.
