Job Summary
Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) is hiring a Student Services Technician in the Financial Aid department. This position performs student service and initial financial aid processing duties and may serve as EMCC's Veteran Affairs Financial Aid liaison.
Essential Functions
80% Works at the EMCC Financial Aid Front Desk providing Financial Aid in person assistance. Helps ensure Front Desk is open and functioning during business hours and in person inquiries are accurately serviced. Assists with student and parent concerns. Responds to requests for assistance from Maricopa Contact Center and other EMCC Departments. Resolves daily ASSIST cases. Responds to student emails. Ensures answers provided are appropriate and accurate. Provides Financial Aid coverage for recruitment and start of semester events during regular workdays as well as Saturdays or evenings when needed. Creates monthly email folders to ensure emails are tracked and completed. Processes and distributes student submitted forms. Assists with compiling office statistics - monthly phone calls, monthly student visits, chats, emails received. Creates new year folders on the Financial Aid shared drive. Assists with ensuring EMC Financial Aid and related websites stay updated, including new aid year forms, regulatory changes, process changes, scholarships, etc.
10% Assists with training Financial Aid Front Desk Federal Work Study (FWS) student employees. Assists with FWS processing, eligibility forms, tracking spreadsheets, and contracts. Submits HDT's for technology, facilities maintenance requests, etc. Reserves rooms for FA meetings, training, etc. Setup and process Front Desk reports, keep the report list, frequency, processing directions and assigned person updated and monitored. Run and save reports that all staff work.
10% Assists with PO's for Department memberships, training, supplies, keeping track of office supplies budget, etc. Manages and answers inquiries regarding purchasing, FMS accounts, and monthly pro card. Helps with the new year file move and file purging per record retention requirements. Works on projects assigned (for Ex. 4DX, Course Applicability, MTF, Repeat Coursework, Default Management, etc.) Participates in training/webinars as directed to stay updated with Federal regulations. Performs other duties as assigned commensurate to the grade level of the position.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED and one (1) year of full-time equivalent clerical, administrative office support or related experience.
Desired Qualifications
A. Experience performing customer service in a financial aid related environment.
B. Experience communicating regulations and guidelines.
C. Experience using financial automated systems such as PeopleSoft, Banner, etc.
D. Experience utilizing a computer and relevant software applications such as google docs, calendar, google meets, webex, excel, MS Word, etc.
Special Working Conditions
Must not be in default or owe an overpayment of federal financial aid funds.
Some evenings and weekends are required.
Position is currently eligible for limited remote work, as defined by college requirements.
