POSITION SUMMARY:
Camp Counselors will be responsible for supervising campers and keeping them safe. Their duties include teaching children outdoor and recreational skills, overseeing camp activities and learning and implementing emergency protocol efforts to ensure the protection of campers.
DUTIES:
Plans, leads, and implements camp programs for children.
Provides high-quality educational and recreational opportunities and enjoyable experiences for camp participants.
Supervises campers and ensures their safety, development, growth, skill achievement, and general well-being.
Maintains a schedule for camp participants.
Facilities lesson plans for daily activities.
Organizes and leads various small and large group activities.
Ensures the cleanliness of the site.
Assists in maintaining accurate program records, including incident reports, logbook documentation, and daily attendance.
Knows and understands all emergency procedures associated with the camp program.
Records and tracks camper's dietary restrictions/allergies and ensures that the meals/snacks are distributed to them.
Mediates and camper's disputes.
Knows, enforces, and follows all safety guidelines associated with the camp program.
Maintains constant surveillance of the pool/body of water areas.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience):
Minimum Qualifications:
This position requires a high school diploma and four years of related experience. Appropriate college coursework may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Prior to starting, must complete and pass a level two background check. Campus Recreation will cover all fees associated with the background check.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous Camp Counselor experience.
American CPR and First Aid for Professional Rescuers Certification or the ability to obtain before first day of camp. (Training availability through USF St. Pete Campus Recreation).
