Job Description:

Louisiana State University A&M Baton Rouge, LA, seeks candidates for a full-time professional position in the Office of Student Services in the College of Agriculture.

The successful applicant will support both Student Services and Development and Recruitment areas of the College of Agriculture. This position is the first point of contact for the office, fielding telephone and in person inquiries, performing day to day business office operations and processing on-going projects supporting the retention and recruitment of students. This position requires a high level of organizational skills, good communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Job Responsibilities:

(45%) Primary academic coordinator responsible for providing routine student and office assistance, including, but not limited to:

  • Coordinate and implement the new student orientation program, including but not limited to updating New Student Moodle Page and entering new students into the New Student Moodle Page.

  • Coordinate and implement the College of Agriculture Faculty Advising Page, including but not limited to adding new faculty and building faculty training itineraries each fall and spring semester.

  • Printing audits, updating majors/minors, invoking grade exclusions, etc.

  • Assist with Commencement preparation and assist during Commencement

  • Record college academic actions and CATS processing

  • Maintain college processes and tracking of new students to the college and students leaving the college.

  • Entering scholarships on Mainframe and confirming eligibility.

  • Collection and management of graduation and enrollment data.

  • Responsible for official office correspondence; (e.g., honor rolls, academic actions, etc).

  • Assist Manager with agri@lsu.edu email monitoring.

(10%) Responsible for general College of Agriculture duties, including, but not limited to:

  • Coordinating staff meetings; sending meeting invites, note taking, sending meeting reminders and speakers.

  • Completing various forms requiring approvals for the Dean's Office Staff and Agriculture Residential College.

  • Assist Assistant Dean and Ag Res College Staff planning the annual research fair event for student grant presenters.

  • Assist Manger in scheduling, training, and managing 2-5 student workers.

(10%) Serve as the point of contact for departments to send course and curricula (C&C) changes including, but not limited to:

  • Creating and maintaining a records system to track requests from submission to university approval.

  • Responsible for creating annual C&C meeting schedules.

  • Compiling agenda items, create agenda, and send to them to the committee before monthly meetings.

(10%) Serve as point of contact and administrator for the CoA Undergraduate research program, including, but not limited to:

  • Confirming research grant selection committee members each summer/fall.

  • Communicate grant cycle timelines to committee members & disseminate them throughout college, faculty & students.

  • Collect grant submissions, check for completion and disseminate to the committee for review.

  • Liaison with CoA and Ag Center business staff for allocation of award funding.

(10%) Responsible for College of Agriculture event planning (e.g., Burger Bash) including, but not limited to:

  • Developing a method for registration of vendors and student organizations.

  • Securing vendors and handling of financial forms & reporting for purchased items.

  • Locating and securing donations from vendors, campus & community partners.

  • Work with the CoA communications team to develop promotional items.

  • Organize and manage event volunteers.

(10%) Support Assistant Dean in College Communication efforts including, but not limited to:

  • Collaborate with Assistant Dean on communications efforts and assist with disseminating college communications.

  • Lead the coordination of the student employment process for CoA Communications Team.

  • Develop a communication plan for internal & external stakeholders

(5%) Performs other duties as assigned by leadership.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree with 2 years of experience. LSU is committed to creating an inclusive space where our employees feel valued for their skills and uniqueness. Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree with 5 years of experience.

Specific Experience: Experience in Microsoft Office Suite and use of publishing software. Experience with Workday and Mainframe.

Additional Information: May be required to drive an LSU vehicle. University employees whose principal responsibilities of employment include operating a vehicle, performing maintenance on a vehicle, or supervising any public employee who operates or maintains a vehicle and positions with an expectation to travel will require an MVR and are subject to drug screens per PM-33/PS-67/FASOP HR-04.
