The Opportunity

The Student Services & Admissions Assistant in the Arts & Sciences Student Services & Admissions Office provides essential administrative support to admissions, registrar, and advising functions. This role is part of a dynamic team dedicated to offering excellent service to students, faculty, and staff. The office supports a one-stop service model for 4,700 undergraduate students from admission through graduation.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the first point of contact for the Student Services & Admissions Office, fostering a welcoming environment for visitors, students, faculty, and staff. Deliver consistently high levels of service to all office visitors.

Provide front desk operations support. Assist with maintenance of student records. Support Admissions staff with application processing Coordinate appointment scheduling.

Report to the Director of Administration. Support and collaborate with admissions, registrar, and advising colleagues. Serve as a resource to department undergraduate coordinators and other college staff. Partner with unit staff on supporting and scheduling visitor information sessions.

What We Need

A resume and cover letter are required for further consideration. HS Diploma; 2-4 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of both education and experience.

Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work well as part of a team. Ability to learn and use new technology software. Experience in, or ability to quickly learn, standard office software (e.g., Outlook Mail, Microsoft Office Suite, FileMaker). Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.

Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members. Ability to effectively prepare written memos/emails and handle confidential information.

Bachelor's degree. Experience with PeopleSoft.

Experience with Slate. Experience with 25Live scheduling system. Experience with Salesforce.

Knowledge of Cornell. Experience working in an academic unit.

This is a full-time (39 hours/week) endowed position that is based in Ithaca, NY and fully on-site. Work hours are 8am-4:30pm Monday through Friday.
