UConn Health is looking for a skilled student with experience in a childcare environment. This is a part-time position. Primary responsibilities are to supervise and instruct children aged six (6) weeks through preschool, with a program designed to stimulate cognitive, emotional, physical and social growth in a safe, caring environment. This position will work in the Creative Child Care Center under the general supervision of the Head Childcare Teacher, Center Director or an employee of higher grade.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:

  • Must have a high school diploma and be enrolled in one of the following degree programs - Associate, Bachelor or Master's.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Must have one of the following:

  • Current enrollment in a degree program in a child-related field for the Fall/2019 semester.

  • Have at least six (6) months of experience in childcare environment with children aged six (6) weeks through five (5) years of age.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to verify current student status in formal accredited program upon hire. Acceptable documentation to include either a letter from academic advisor on letterhead; or a course schedule listing current term of enrollment, name of educational institute and student's name.

  • Incumbents in this class must complete and maintain First Aid certifications and medication training and be responsible for obtaining state licensing required continuing education units. May be required to complete and maintain CPR certification.

  • In compliance with NAEYC guidelines, must be at least eighteen (18) years old.

  • As a condition of employment and at the incumbent's expense, a Criminal Fingerprint Background check, both State and Federal, as well as a check of the State Child Abuse Registry must be processed and cleared by the Department of Public Health.

SCHEDULE: various part-time hours up to 20 hours/week, primarily afternoons, Monday-Friday, days. 30 - 60 minute unpaid meal break (depending on work schedule).

MINIMUM FULL-TIME SALARY EQUIVALENT: $11.00/hour; no benefits.

Primary responsibilities are to monitor the use of the Testing and Training Computer Center (T2C2) and to assist the students and faculty with hardware and software technical problems. Responsible for assisting with classroom instructors and students during day and evening class meetings. This is a part time position. Schedule: 20 hrs per wk, hours to be determined Weeknights and weekend library hours throughout the year EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: * Maintenance of the hardware and software in the T2C2 including troubleshooting problems. * General classroom maintenance including software downloads and cleaning the equipment. * Teach and /or assist students with various productivity, network and curricular programs. * Assist student with presentation preparation including scanning and inserting images; * Keep accurate records of questions/problems and attendance. * Assist student and staff with questions regarding their handheld devices as well as helping them to download and install the required software. * Help classroom Instructors with the operation of projectors and other classroom equipment;special projects and clerical duties as needed. EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: * Applicants must have demonstrated oral and written communications skills * Ability to work directly with people, good customer service skills, ability to work independently, * General computer skills and technical ability. MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must be familiar with Windows Operating Systems; MS Office Product Suite; able to learn various software packages to answer client questions as well as employ such programs to accomplish various tasks associated with this position.General experience with troubleshooting computer hardware, software and printing problems. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Qualified applicants must be currently enrolled as a student in a formal, sanctioned educational program and able to verify student status at time of application. Acceptable documentaiton include either a letter from an academic advisor on letterhead; or a course schedule listing current term of enrollment, name of the institution and student's name; or official transcript. Must be able to work nights and weekends, and to fill in for vacations and sick time on occasion.The T2C2 is located in the Lyman Maynard Stowe Library and is open during most library hours. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with MAC OS 10. Experience with Pharos Print Management System, Blackboard Course Management System,handheld devices, Encryption software and scanning devices helpful.
