ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:

USF World is led by a VP and is comprised of units across Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Sarasota devoted to promoting education abroad, international student recruitment and admissions, support services for international students and scholars, the management of

international partnerships, international travel risk and safety services, management of Peace Corps programming, tracking and documenting international research collaborations and the global footprint of faculty, students and staff, international alumni development and outreach, and the marketing and communication of USF World programs and initiatives. Comprising a total of over 100 employees & a budget of approximately $10.5 M, clients are USF faculty developing international academic experiences, curriculum, and research collaborations, administrators promoting the global priorities of USF, staff responsible for supporting international activities across campuses, colleges, and other units, current and prospective students coming to USF from other countries, and U.S. students seeking global experiences as well as university partners from abroad. Community partners include local, state, national, and international leaders of government and public and private organizations, including other institutions of higher ed, military, business, and industry.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is the primary point of contact for students before, during, and after a global education experience based upon an assigned portfolio. They will engage in inclusive advising practices to support a diverse student

population. The practices will align with university and education abroad best practices; utilizing campus and industry resources.

In addition to working directly with students, the advisor may facilitate as well as administrate procedures relating to student participation, including program applications, visas, financial aid, and other processes.

The advisor also assists with aspects of recruitment and retention efforts for global education programming. This position will also have responsibilities in supporting the global mission of the

office as well as our dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusivity in higher education; these responsibilities may vary depending on the cyclical needs of the office.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Student Application Management: Responsible for responding and managing

student applications for study abroad to ensure students inquiries are answered,

increase yield and retention.

Student Advising: Advises students about education abroad and processes.

This may include USF and non-USF students before they apply through the committed stage on general program info, choosing a program, application assistance, tips for traveling, scholarship information, and payment information. Responsible for a portfolio of programs that may include faculty-led programs, affiliate, internships, exchange and virtual programming. Assists in assessing existing advising process to ensure inclusivity and equity of access to international programming. Work with student employees to develop advising abilities and assist during busy periods.

Recruitment: Coordinates recruitment activities for education abroad generally and more specifically within their program portfolio, working with faculty, affiliate providers, exchange partners, USF World colleagues and academic units across USF's 3 campuses.

Represents the Education Abroad Office in major campus programming initiatives, such as orientation, homecoming, parent events, and other student-related events throughout the academic year. Assess recruitment strategies to best reach underrepresented populations in international programming. Work with student employees to develop advising abilities and assist during busy periods.

Liaise with USF faculty-led program developers, USF faculty, affiliate partners,

exchange partners, and other parties to ensure coordination of student arrangements, orientations, and other student needs before, during, and after the travel.

Event Coordination: Assists in developing, coordinating and participating in events and programming related to recruitment, special needs, equal access, pre-departure orientation and reentry events.

This may include coordinating showcases, fairs, mini fairs, professional development workshops and other events focused on student success. This will require building relationships with on campus partners, and assisting with scheduling student recruiters and GoBull ambassadors at events all over campus.

Performs other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM:

This position requires a Bachelor's degree, with at least one year of experience in a student affairs or student personnel position; or a Master's degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, or Sports Recreation Administration. Work experience may not be substituted for the Bachelor degree requirement for this position.

PREFERRED:

Preference given to higher education advising and recruitment experience. Study abroad experience

FLSB1310 Equivalency:

4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.

6 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for master's degree.
