ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:

Student Conduct and Ethical Development (SCED) is a part of the Assistant Regional Vice Chancellor/Dean of Students staff within Student Success. Student Conduct and Ethical Development's goal is to encourage and develop standards of behavior and critical thinking that will create a community of leaders and citizens' and enhance the USF environment for community members living, studying and working within the University.

By engaging students in one-on-one interactions with staff trained in student development and through group interactions with the University Conduct Board, USF students are challenged to assess and reassess their framework of principles and behavioral norms that support a healthy community. SCED's mission is to provide for the safety and well-being of the University environment; to aid in the growth and development of a student as related to a student's behavior; and to serve as the management agency for the University Conduct System. SCED staff also serve as a resource to members of the USF community.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Coordinator of Student Conduct and Ethical Development (SCED) reports to the Associate Director of SCED on the St. Petersburg campus.

They assists in the coordination of all aspects of the student conduct process. The Coordinator is specifically responsible for case management, administrative processes and procedures as part of a student centered, impartial conduct process. Further, the Coordinator will assist in the coordination, adjudication and investigation of conduct cases; monitoring and tracking cases through the disciplinary process and assisting with the daily operations of the office.

This person will also be the primary liaison with the Housing and Residential Life staff for training, case follow up and record keeping. They will be responsible for the proactive educational outreach to students creating opportunities for learning and on-going development of honor, ethics, and community standards. This position will aid in providing education, support and outreach to faculty and staff partners regarding the student conduct referral process.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to, assisting the Associate Director in the oversight and coordination of all aspects related to on-campus residential community student conduct. This includes reviewing and assigning student conduct cases occurring within on-campus residential communities and working with Residential Education staff in investigating and adjudicating student conduct cases.

Additionally, training Residential Education professional and student staff in all aspects of student conduct and community standards. Meet with Residential Education staff regularly.

Investigating student conduct cases within the purview of the Student Code of Conduct. Serves as a Hearing Officer to adjudicate student conduct cases and assign sanctions as appropriate. Assist in compiling and facilitating educational

workshop and programs related to sanctions.

Develop and facilitate SCED outreach programs for the campus community. Assist in serving as a liaison for campus and community partners/departments. Support campus partners in the implementation of educational and awareness initiatives.

Monitor and track student conduct cases through the student conduct process utilizing the conduct database system. Assist in compiling all educational workshop and outreach initiative date.

Assist in compiling student conduct data (specifically residential conduct). Utilize the student conduct database system to manage student and staff rosters. Assist with assessment initiatives.

Assist in the coordination, recruitment, selection, training, and evaluation of University Conduct Board members.

Performs other duties as assigned, including representing SCED and the Associate Director as needed related to conduct.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM:

This position requires a Bachelor's degree, with at least one year of experience in a student affairs or student personnel position; or a Master's degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, or Sports Recreation Administration. Work experience may not be substituted for the Bachelor degree requirement for this position.

PREFERRED:

Master's Degree in Student Personnel, Higher Education or related field.

Knowledge and experience in case adjudication, conflict resolution and mediation.

Prior university level experience with student behavior, university housing, Title IX, case management, community standards or related field in student affairs.

Experience in conduct database systems such as Symplicity, Advocate, Pave or Maxient.
