Summary of Position:

The position will minister on behalf of Gateway Church to local Middle Schools

and High Schools in our communities. This person will be required to build,

maintain and strengthen rapport with the Administration and Faculty of the

Schools they serve. Under the oversight of the Campus Students Pastor they

will assess the needs of the school and develop an action plan to serve the

needs Gateway is best equipped to meet. Additional resources and

volunteers from their campus local outreach ministry may be available to

help with these initiatives. This person will need to be a self-starter,

proactively looking for new ways to add value to their schools rather than

waiting to be asked to do something. Through a ministry of consistent

presence and faithfulness, they will seek to minister to students on campus

and encourage them to visit Gateway Students and become connected to our

family. The will also serve as a source of pastoral encouragement and

support to students who are actively involved in ministry at their schools such

as Jesus Clubs, FCA and Young Life.

This multi-tasking position requires an aptitude to learn and utilize

administrative, operational and ministry processes and systems of Gateway

Church. In addition to primarily serving schools, this position works closely

with the Campus Student Pastor to assist with other ministry operations and

events that are taking place in Gateway Students such as Wednesday night

services, camp, conference and other special events. This position is ideal for

someone who is a self-starter, a good communicator, who naturally gathers

and influences people, who is passionate to make disciples and is looking to

grow their leadership giftings.

Principal Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve at least 2 schools (most likely one middle school and one high

school) on a weekly basis.

  • Build Rapport with the School Principal, Administration, Teaching and

Coaching Faculty

Connect with any and all students and be a source of consistent

encouragement

  • Seek to invite students to visit Wednesday night services and to find

ways to connect them into our Gateway Family through community

and serving opportunities

  • Create and execute a ministry plan for your school in collaboration with

School Leadership and the Students Associate Pastor at your campus

  • Help identify, equip, and support student leaders at your school who

are involved with ministry in Jesus Clubs, FCA, Young LIfe and other on-

campus ministries

  • Conduct/coordinate weekend student expression on campus (expanded lobby presence and students' section)
  • Relationally connect and support other churches or organizations

meeting at your school and look for ways to partner

  • Weekly attend lunches, clubs, sports activities at your school with the

goal of connecting with students and reaching them for Jesus

  • Collaborate with Campus Local Outreach Pastor and volunteers in any

initiatives at the school where they can serve and add greater value

  • Oversee budget and accounting process for your school's ministry

plan, including monthly expense reports, reimbursements, and month

end reporting

  • Support your campus staff to execute Weekly Service

  • Ensure and execute additional elements pre/post service, as directed

by the Students Pastor

  • Respond to all emails, voicemails, and calls within 24 hours. Check

emails and respond in a timely manner, and provide a prompt

response to critical needs

  • Follow "out of office" voicemail and email procedures to effectively

communicate availability to our members and community

  • Manage onboarding volunteer contacts as it pertains to schools

  • Communication to Gateway Student volunteers, managing databases,

overseeing the volunteer onboarding process

  • Set up and assist in planning of all off-site events/ministry as needed

  • Attend all required staff meetings.

  • Disciple and train up students to start/assist clubs in their schools

  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to execute vision as well as lead, correct, and encourage a team

of volunteers.

  • Strong time-management skills and multitasking ability.

  • Ability to lead and work well within a team environment.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with aptitude to learn new software and

systems.

General Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be

met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to:

  • Sit/stand for long periods of time

  • Occasionally kneel, or crouch

  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. and

occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.

necessary.
