Responsibilities
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
Responsibilities:
Complete assigned nursing orders as directed by preceptor, including assisting patient with activities of daily living and taking vital signs.
Observe patient status and responses. Document and report observations to preceptor or other appropriate staff.
Assist preceptor with development of care plan by reporting test results and patient observations.
Perform other tasks as assigned, including environmental services and preparing/transporting patients for diagnostic services.

Must be enrolled in a Nurse (RN) Education program.
This is not a temporary position to work during school breaks. This position is designed for students to work while in school.
Minimum of 36 hours per 6-week schedule.
In addition to your role as a Patient Care Technician, you will have precepted time with an RN.
We have 4 Nurse Intern levels for you to progress your skills and increase knowledge as you prepare for a nursing graduate position with Ascension St. Vincent.
This opportunity is a permanent position looking for current nursing students to start working in this role right away. You will work in this role until you graduate and move into our Nurse Residency program. In a Student Nurse Intern role, you will be working as a Patient Care Technician but with the opportunity to have precepted RN shifts and requires a Minimum of 36 hours per 6-week schedule.
Highly acute 24-beds Surgical/Medical Cardiac ICU/Cardiac Recovery
Specializing in advanced heart failure, cardiogenic shock, STEMI, transplant, VAD's, thoracic, vascular, ECMO patient populations
Supported by Registered Nurses, resource, and multidisciplinary teams

We have an amazing team of skilled nurses and patient care technicians that work with a multi-disciplinary team and innovative physicians. We work closely as a team to support our patients and each other.
Patients we serve:
Medical Patients: STEMI, Cardiac Arrest, and Advanced Heart Failure
Surgical Patients: Cardiac: Transplant, VAD, CABG, and Valve Repair/Replacement
Thoracic: Pneumonectomy, Lobectomy, Esophagectomy
Vascular: AAA repair, CEA, complex vascular repair
Transplant: Heart, Kidney, and Pancreas
Location and shifts:
Ascension St. Vincent Cardiac Medical and Surgical ICU unit is located at 2001 W. 86th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46260. Day shift
7:00AM
7:30PM or Night shift
7:00PM
7:30AM, Sunday
Saturday.
