Are you a current nursing student and interested in seeing what being a nurse is really like? Would you love the opportunity to learn from a trained preceptor in a 1-on-1 environment? Apply now to our Student Nurse Internship Program and begin your journey of contributing to Life Changing Medicine!
About the Program
UPMC's Student Nurse Internship (SNI) Program is a 10-week paid summer internship; this year the Program begins in mid-May and ends on July 26. SNIs have an opportunity to work directly with a trained preceptor 1-on-1! In addition to providing direct patient care, supplementary educational sessions provide the opportunity for the Student Nurse Intern to build relationships and learn about their profession. SNIs will work at one hospital (assigned during the interview process) but have an opportunity to experience two distinct units (one complex acute care unit and one specialty area). SNIs can work up to 40 hours per week and follow the schedule of their preceptor.
During the Program, SNIs agree to complete an essay about their experience, a post-program evaluation survey, and make every effort to attend Mid-Summer and End of Summer Events. For internal candidates, please note that this is a temporary position and transferring into a temporary position may affect your current employment benefits.
SNIs applying to this job posting will be considered for the following UPMC facilities: Children's Hospital, East, Magee Women's Hospital, McKeesport, Mercy, Passavant, Presbyterian, Shadyside, St. Margaret's, Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic (WPIC), and our System Nursing Resources (SNR) area.
