The Student Life and Engagement Specialist plays a pivotal role in supporting the Office of Student Life and Engagement. This role encompasses office management, budget oversight, student employee supervision, and various administrative duties. This role involves recruiting, managing, and developing student cohorts, fostering a sense of belonging, and connecting students with essential campus and community resources. The specialist will arrange professional development opportunities, create engagement strategies, and provide team-building opportunities. Additionally, the role includes evaluating the effectiveness of student engagement programs, managing social media platforms, and serving as a liaison between students and college administrators.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of related work experience.
Experience in budget management and supervisory roles preferred.
Skills:
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and social media platforms.
Strong mentoring and coaching skills with the ability to foster teamwork.
Effective interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written.
Ability to make decisions and exhibit sound and accurate judgment.
Capability to prepare and present special projects with minimal supervision.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Customer service experience and a strong commitment to student success.
Certifications/Licenses:
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
Experience and/or training in an institution of higher education.
Essential Duties
Budget Management
Assist with the management of all unique budgets for SLE Office.
Utilize the college budget platform and BOA WORKS for monthly expenditure and revenue tracking.
Process purchase requisitions, reimbursements, budget transfers, and monthly reconciliation of two procurement cards.
Oversee all travel costs/processes for professional staff in SLE and department-sponsored travel for students.
Shadow Budget Creation and Maintenance
Create and maintain a shadow budget for each of the SLE budgets.
Run bi-weekly budget consumption reports to account for student employee salary spending.
Report shadow budgets at all department staff meetings and discuss monthly with the Director.
Student Employee Supervision
Directly supervise 2-6 student employees.
Coordinate work schedules, time sheet entry, and maintain all personnel paperwork.
Update student employee training manual and coordinate training and daily operations.
Visitor Assistance and Education
Student Organization Advising
Administrative and Clerical Support
Provide support to full-time staff members, including scheduling appointments, assisting with phone calls, and coordinating travel.
Handle general office management tasks such as filing, copying, faxing, organizing storage space, and ordering supplies.
Office Operations Supervision
Supervise day-to-day operations of the SLE.
Answer telephone inquiries and provide appropriate resources regarding programs, organizations, and general college operations.
Advisor Training and Recognition Development
Other Duties
