Reporting to the Assistant Director of Student Involvement and Leadership, this position will be responsible for the coordination and implementation of student life and engagement programming through UTSA student life branch. This position will coordinate, develop, and manage an effective student life program to create a vibrant campus community. This will involve, creating, reviewing, evaluating, recommending, and approving student life on campus. The coordinator will also manage and provide training, supervision and support to the UTSA Student Life leaders in the planning and staging of campus life programming, major student events, concerts, and activities. The candidate will need to be fiscally responsible as they will be asked to manage the operational budgets within the UTSA Student Life branch. The overarching goal being to establish strong student communities and promote a robust social and educational environment that encourages student belonging, enhances student engagements, through the building of positive relationships and connections to campus.   • Lead out, advise and enhance in the continual development of a strategic comprehensive student engagement plan.

  • Create a supportive and collaborative working environment where student leaders can flourish and grow as they engage with various divisions, areas, departments and individuals across campus.

  • Directly advise and supervise the UTSA Student Life Leaders to ensure a clear student engagement vision in compliance with University policies and procedures.

  • Work with the UTSA Marketing Branch to provide effective and comprehensive marketing campaigns.

  • Become familiar with and provide student training to closely follow all of the policies procedures and practices of the UT campus events and programming. Including but not limited to Risk Management, Centralized Scheduling, Budgets, P-card usage, travel policies, fire codes, etc.….

  • Maintain Updated Membership of the Association of Campus Activities and other pertinent state and national organizations.

  • Oversee the development of a community and educational environment that encourages student connections, positive relationships, and student success.

  • Plan and implement programming from a wellness perspective using the Trailblazer Wellness Model to promote student engagement and connections to the campus.

  • Assist in the management and instruction of student leaders in the UTSA Summer internship program.

  • Manage the incubation and development of new programming and event ideas.

  • Remain current on theory, practices, techniques, rules, regulations, and protocols related to student life engagement.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor's degree in Student Services, Education, Public Administration, Communication, Organizational Behavior, Management, or a closely related field required; Master's degree preferred.

  • At least a year of experience working in student engagement, resident life, student involvement, or related fields is preferred.

  • Knowledge of student engagement and student involvement theories and programming requirements.

  • Awareness of current trends, research, and related issues in higher education leadership development, student affairs, event management, and student leadership theory.

  • Familiarity with student development, communication, and group dynamic principles.

  • Well-developed problem-solving skills, with strong organizational, written and oral communication skills.

  • Understanding of program review and pre/post-event evaluation processes.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Knowledge of risk management and liability issues, as well as basic group supervision principles.

  • Computer proficiency, with good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (particularly Word and Outlook) required.

  • Excellent written and verbal interpersonal skills required, with the ability to interact with a diverse group of individuals and campus departments in establishing and maintaining effective and positive relationships.

  • Outgoing personality, with a history of demonstrating dependability, reliability, and initiative.

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time overtime-exempt staff position. Annual salary of $44,000+ depending on qualifications and experience. Desired start date of August 2024.
